  • Memory of Oneself, Memory of God

    Open Access•Enrique Martínez•ARTICLE•Religions•2022•References: 5

Knowledge and love, as well as intellect and will, while remaining distinct, must be understood in man as being intrinsically related on account of his being ordained to a single ultimate end. This responds to the substantial inclination that every human being has for synthesis, for intimate unity. One of the clearest examples of this spirit of synthesis can be recognized in the teaching of Saint Thomas Aquinas; for example, in his attitude of as…

  • God as Highest Truth According to Aquinas

    Open Access•Enrique Martínez•ARTICLE•Religions•2021•References: 3

Contemporary public opinion has come to assume that we live in the post-truth era, in which judgments on the most relevant realities of human life have been left in the hands of mere emotions. In such a context, it is very opportune to redirect our gaze toward the concept of truth, in order to help to adequately ground such a primordial reality as that of the personal being.

  • The Technological and Typological Behaviour of a Neanderthal Group From El Sidrón Cave (Asturias, Spain)

Open Access•David Santamaría, David Santamaría Álvarez et al.•ARTICLE•Oxford Journal of Archaeology•2010•Cited by: 16•References: 14

This paper presents the first detailed analysis of the lithic industry from El Sidrón Cave. Previously we have published other works concerning Anthropology and Palaeogenetics. The lithic assemblage contains 415 artefacts coming from both unofficial and official excavations and is largely flake‐based. The raw material derives from the immediate cave environment, and is mostly chert, with quartzite in a lesser proportion. To date, 67 artefacts hav…

  • Paleobiology and comparative morphology of a late Neandertal sample from El Sidrón, Asturias, Spain

Open Access•A Rosas, Cayetana Martinez-Maza et al.•ARTICLE•Proceedings of the National…•2006

Fossil evidence from the Iberian Peninsula is essential for understanding Neandertal evolution and history. Since 2000, a new sample ≈43,000 years old has been systematically recovered at the El Sidrón cave site (Asturias, Spain). Human remains almost exclusively compose the bone assemblage. All of the skeletal parts are preserved, and there is a moderate occurrence of Middle Paleolithic stone tools. A minimum number of eight individuals are repr…
