The Material World of the Early Twentieth-Century Reindeer Breeding Orochons of Transbaikal in the Dimension of Culture
The article makes the first comprehensive attempt at examining the material world of the early twentieth-century reindeer breeding Orochons of Transbaikal, drawing on a broad range of materials from the Russian Ethnographic Museum and applying systems analysis and hermeneutic methods to interpret results. In this book, Gabriel Guarino focuses on the court of the Spanish viceroy in Naples, particularly in the seventeenth century, to determine the degree to which the Spanish Habsburgs were able to impose a “Spanish cultural model” in that territory. Through examining a range of primary sources, including festival books, chronicles, and diaries, Guarino demonstrates how Spanish viceroys attempted to use rituals to project an idealized image of power …
