Weaving pluriversal entanglements for urban wetland regeneration
This article advances pluriversal entanglements, a conceptual framework that reimagines urban wetland regeneration through a heterogeneous approach grounded in dweller-led epistemologies and praxis, building on insights from an actually existing restoration initiative. Responding to the escalating degradation of urban wetlands amid climate change and exclusionary development, pluriversal entanglements critiques dominant technocratic governance pa…

Participatory modelling is a way to include local people’s knowledge in environmental computer modelling. It has primarily been analysed as a process enhancing scientific understanding and public understanding of science, rarely for generating decision-supporting knowledge in environmental management. Testing the Effectiveness of Protocols for Removal of Common Conservation Treatments for Radiocarbon Dating
To achieve a reliable radiocarbon ( 14 C) date for an object, any contamination that may be of a different age must be removed prior to dating. Samples that have been conserved with treatments such as adhesives, varnishes or consolidants can pose a particular challenge to 14 C dating. At the Oxford Radiocarbon Accelerator Unit (ORAU), common examples of such substances encountered include shellac, the acrylic polymers Paraloid B-67 and B-72, and …

Curriculum capacity and citizenship education: A comparative analysis of four democracies
Governments, international organizations and academics have, in recent decades, expressed a sense of crisis in the practice of democracy based largely upon increasing levels of disengagement by citizens from even the most basic elements of civic life. One response has been to devise civics and citizenship education curricula for schools with the concomitant expectations of enhanced civic practice. Our examination of citizenship education programs…

Toward a More Thoughtful Professional Education for Social Studies Teachers: Can Problem-Based Learning Contribute
The data presented here show that prospective social studies teachers perceived Problem-Based Learning to provide a significantly more thoughtful learning environment than their other university level experiences. The results can be explained, at least in part, by PBL's capacity to overcome barriers to thoughtful teaching and learning identified in previous research. If social studies teachers are to provide thoughtful classrooms for their studen…
