What one thinks, what one says and what one does
Gender-based violence (GBV) is widespread across the world. While the majority of the literature focuses on women as the victims of GBV, this paper studies men’s justifications for and perpetration of GBV in Mali, one of the countries with the highest GBV prevalence rates in the world. We study how the migration experience, but also the before‐ and after‐migration characteristics, correlate with migrants’ outcomes upon return. We adopt a broad conception of reintegration, considering jointly labour market‐related outcomes that proxy for structural reintegration and subjective indicators that pro…
Migrants' Home Town Associations and Local Development in Mali
We explore the impact of migrants' Home Town Associations (HTAs) on the provision of public goods in Mali. We find robust evidence that the provision of school…
Do return migrants transfer political norms to their origin country? Evidence from Mali
