This article reports on a research-based theatre piece about teachers leaving education. In social science research, surveys have the potential to contextualize interview data and enable researchers to interrogate information such as demographics or percenta…

Additi…

Peter B Duffy, Peter Duffy•ARTICLE•Research in Drama Education The…•2014

This essay considers whether the neuroscientific concepts of conceptual blending (from cognitive linguistics) embodiment and analogy offer insights into why and how drama-based pedagogies strengthen classroom learning. Pilot writing samples from eight-and nine-year-old students suggest that conceptual blending is enhanced through drama-based instruction and that the process not only increases learning outcomes, but motivates to learn as well.Abst…

Learning experiences within Multi User Virtual Environments (MUVE’s) focus on discovery and active experiences and provide many opportunities to support multicultural learners. Virtual worlds have the potential to become meaningful, highly sophisticated tools for educators and students, and it is timely to consider how educators can move from the hype to the how and why?
