  • Evaluating and translating cultural symbol design

Open Access•Yousheng Yao, Junpeng Zheng et al.•ARTICLE•Humanities and Social Sciences…•2026

Translating culturally saturated ornament into contemporary design often collapses meaning into surface resemblance and lacks auditable methods that generalize across diverse scenarios (e.g., product and public-information settings). Focusing on the Chaoshan Five-Element gable, this study models heritage semantics as an evaluative system and tests how such semantics guide concrete design choices. It operationalizes a transparent, reproducible dec…

  • Exploring Tourists’ Intentions to Adopt Augmented Reality in Cultural Heritage Museums

Open Access•Wenjing Xu, Mazran Ismail et al.•ARTICLE•SAGE Open•2025

Augmented reality (AR) adoption in archeological site museums has attracted growing attention; however, a notable gap remains in understanding how personal traits and technological perceptions interact to influence tourists’ choices. To address this gap, this study conducted at the Sanxingdui Archeological Site Museum employs the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), a widely used framework for analyzing user acceptance of technology, alongside stru…

  • The association between weekend warrior physical activity pattern and albuminuria in hypertensive patients

Open Access•Bingquan Xiong, Wenlong Yu et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2024

Compared with inactive PA, both WWs and regular PA could confer the equivalent benefits on reducing albuminuria among hypertensive adults. These findings highlight the beneficial effect of PA on albuminuria and provide a proven method for those hypertensive adults with a busy lifestyle

  • A global reference for human genetic variation

Open Access•Corresponding authors, Adam Auton et al.•ARTICLE•Nature•2015

The 1000 Genomes Project set out to provide a comprehensive description of common human genetic variation by applying whole-genome sequencing to a diverse set of individuals from multiple populations. Here we report completion of the project, having reconstructed the genomes of 2,504 individuals from 26 populations using a combination of low-coverage whole-genome sequencing, deep exome sequencing, and dense microarray genotyping. We characterized…

  • Altitude adaptation in Tibetans caused by introgression of Denisovan-like DNA

    Open Access•Emilia Huerta-Sanchez, Emilia Huerta‐sánchez et al.•ARTICLE•Nature•2014

  • Ancient human genome sequence of an extinct Palaeo-Eskimo

Open Access•Morten Rasmussen, Yingrui Li et al.•ARTICLE•Nature•2010

We report here the genome sequence of an ancient human. Obtained from ∼4,000-year-old permafrost-preserved hair, the genome represents a male individual from the first known culture to settle in Greenland. Sequenced to an average depth of 20×, we recover 79% of the diploid genome, an amount close to the practical limit of current sequencing technologies. We identify 353,151 high-confidence single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), of which 6.8% hav…
