Exploring the emergence of the ‘incense-burning and Buddha-worshipping’ phenomenon among China’s generation Z
In China, the trend of ‘incense-burning and Buddha-worshipping’ is increasingly popular among Generation Z. To gain a deeper understanding of this emerging phenomenon, this study employs a mixed-methods design to explore the religious tourism experiences of Generation Z (RTEGZ) and their impact on behavioural intentions (BI). First, we conducted hierarchical coding of interview data and user-generated content (UGC) from Weibo, identifying five di…
Role of Body in Travel
The body plays a crucial role in the experience of tourists utilizing a wheelchair, providing a constant reminder of the need to pay attention to the “body-self.” However, the mechanism behind their travel experience remains a theoretical black hole that needs to be explored. Embodiment theory offers a unique perspective for investigating the formation of the experience of tourists who use wheelchairs. This study aims to examine the body practice…
Unpacking the impact of entrepreneurial learning on business model innovation in internet startups
While researchers recognize the central role of business model innovation (BMI) in the success of digital startups, empirical research systematically exploring the pathways of BMI in the digital era for such startups remains scarce. This study employs the dynamic capability theory to construct a theoretical framework termed the “learning capability model” to examine the influence of entrepreneurial learning on BMI. We collected questionnaires fro…
Ambidextrous Learning, Resource Acquisition, and Venture Performance
The entrepreneurial ecosystem (EE) has always been a current research hotspot. However, there is currently limited empirical research at the micro-level of EE. Based on organizational learning theory, this study constructs a model integrating the ambidextrous learning, resource acquisition, venture performance, and EE network relationships of new ventures under EE. Based on survey data of 193 new ventures in EE in Hangzhou, China, our results ill…
Revisiting the Relationship Between Tourism and Crime Based on a Dynamic Spatial Durbin Model
To determine the extent to which tourism development affects crime rate, this study uses a dynamic spatial Durbin model (DSDM) to examine the spatial effect of tourism on crime. Based on a panel data set of 21 cities in Sichuan Province, China, over the 2008 to 2018 period, and after controlling for the interactive effect, the results reveal that tourism exerts a significantly negative impact on crime. This implies that tourism development can re…
Social support and social commerce purchase intention
Social commerce (s-commerce) has risen in popularity primarily owing to social media development. We investigated social support as a predictor of s-commerce purchase intention, and the mediating role of social trust in this relationship. Participants comprised 356 undergraduate students at five Chinese public universities. Structural equation modeling results indicate that social support had a direct positive effect on s-commerce purchase intent…
