  • Enjoying sad music

Open Access•Olivia Ladinig, Charles Brooks et al.•ARTICLE•Musicae Scientiae•2021

Philosophers have long wrestled with the apparent paradox of the enjoyment of negative emotional portrayals in the arts. An example of this apparent paradox is the enjoyment among some listeners of nominally sad music. An experiment is reported in which 39 participants listened to sad and happy music while serum prolactin (PRL) concentrations were measured. The purpose of the experiment was to test an a priori theory, proposed by Huron, that liki…

  • Group Supervision Attitudes

    Open Access•Charles Brooks, Charles I Brooks et al.•ARTICLE•Qualitative Report•2015•Cited by: 1•References: 1

The focus of this study was to qualitatively evaluate worker's attitudes about clinical supervision. • Tamburlaine and Attitudes Toward Women

    Charles Brooks•ARTICLE•ELH•1957

Much of the interest in Marlowe that has been displayed in the last twenty years has been biographical, stimulated by the discoveries of rather sensational documents; but recently, perhaps as a development of that biographical interest, several critical attempts have been made to evaluate the spirit of aspiration or individualism which Marlowe's plays dramatize. Not all critics have, of course, agreed to find this spirit in the plays, any more th…
