Exploring the beliefs surrounding student evaluations of instruction in criminology and criminal justice undergraduate courses
Student evaluations of instructors are given consideration in a number of important decisions concerning instructors such as hiring, merit pay, and in the tenure and promotion process. However, a number of popular beliefs surround the interpretation of these evaluations. Using active learning strategies in teaching criminology: A personal account
Seminars and workshops on active learning techniques are being held at many universities. This essay compares traditional classroom interaction with the new active learning approach and offers a personal account of one instructor's attempts to introduce the active learning method within a criminology curriculum.
