  • Multicalibration in Fair Link Prediction

Open Access•Manjish Pal, Sandipan Sikdar et al.•ARTICLE•IEEE Transactions on Computational…•2026

In this work, we expand the multicalibration fairness metric to graph-structured data. Machine learning models, including graph neural networks (GNNs), have been demonstrated to generate unfair results when trained on data containing biases towards certain demographic groups. Consequently, several fairness enhancing methods have been proposed to deal with such biases in the model predictions. To evaluate the performance of these methods, metrics …

  • Fair Link Prediction With Overlapping Groups

Open Access•Manjish Pal, Sandipan Sikdar et al.•ARTICLE•IEEE Transactions on Computational…•2025

In this article, we introduce FairLPG, a framework for ensuring fairness for the task of link prediction in graphs with multiple sensitive attributes. In the context of link prediction in graphs, the fairness notions of demographic parity and equalized odds try to ensure equal average linking probability and true positive rates across different demographic groups consisting of various node pairs. Existing methods for achieving fairness in link pr…

  • Offsetting Unequal Competition Through RL-Assisted Incentive Schemes

Open Access•Paramita Koley, Aurghya Maiti et al.•ARTICLE•IEEE Transactions on Computational…•2023

This article investigates the dynamics of competition among organizations with unequal expertise. Multiagent reinforcement learning (MARL) has been used to simulate and understand the impact of various incentive schemes designed to offset such inequality. We design Touch-Mark, a game based on well-known multiagent particle environment, where two teams (weak and strong) with unequal but changing skill levels compete against each other. For trainin…

  • Characterizing Deleted Tweets and Their Authors

Open Access•Parantapa Bhattacharya, Niloy Ganguly•ARTICLE•Proceedings of the International…•2021•Cited by: 1

This paper provides a detailed characterization of tweets posted and then later deleted by their authors, in the Twitter microblogging platform. Our characterization shows significant personality differences between users who delete their tweets and those who do not. We find that users who delete their tweets are more likely to be extroverted and neurotic while being less conscientious. Further, although deleted tweets contain more negative senti…

  • A Smartphone-Based Passenger Assistant for Public Bus Commute in Developing Countries

Open Access•Rohit Verma, Aviral Shrivastava et al.•ARTICLE•IEEE Transactions on Computational…•2020

Although public transport vehicles such as buses have always been an economical means of commuting in the cities of many developing countries, it is always considered as a secondary mode of transport owing to poor infrastructure, chaotic and reckless driving habits, and absence of any proper information system in buses. Based on rigorous experiments carried out over a period of two years and multiple surveys, we have tried to learn the problems f…

  • Brokerage-based attack on real world temporal networks

    Open Access•Souvik Sur, Niloy Ganguly et al.•ARTICLE•Network Science•2016•References: 5

In this paper, we attempt to investigate the attack tolerance of human mobility networks where the mobility is restricted to some extent, for instance, in a hospital, one is not allowed to access all locations. Similar situations also arise in schools. In such a network, we will show that people need to rely upon some intermediate agents, popularly known as the brokers to disseminate information. In order to establish this fact, we have followed …

  • Dynamics On and Of Complex Networks, Volume 2

Open Access•Animesh Mukherjee, Monojit Choudhury et al.•EDITOR•BOOK•Dynamics On and Of Complex…•2013

This self-contained book systematically explores the statistical dynamics on and of complex networks with a special focus on time-varying networks. In the constantly changing modern world, there is an urgent need to understand problems related to systems that dynamically evolve in either structure or function, or both. This work is an attempt to address such problems in the framework of complex networks. Dynamics on and of Complex Networks, Volum…
