  • Thiessen Polygons

    Open Access•Isshi Yamada, Ikuho Yamada•CHAPTER•International Encyclopedia of…•2016

Thiessen polygons, also known as Voronoi polygons, are generated around a set of points in a given space by assigning all locations in that space to the closest member of the point set. Any location in a Thiessen polygon is closer to the corresponding point inside it than to any other member of the point set. A spatial tessellation generated in this way is called a Voronoi diagram. Each Voronoi polygon may be seen as an area of influence of a poi…

  • Effects of neighborhood walkability on healthy weight: Assessing selection and causal influences

  • Local Indicators of Network-Constrained Clusters in Spatial Patterns Represented by a Link Attribute

Isshi Yamada, Ikuho Yamada et al.•ARTICLE•Annals of the Association of…•2010•Cited by: 3•References: 49

Clustering in a spatially distributed phenomenon is an important focus of spatial analysis because it not only suggests characteristics of the pattern itself but also of its background processes. Traditional methods of spatial cluster detection mostly rely on the planar space assumption, yet a variety of spatial phenomena do not support its logic. This article expounds on an exploratory spatial data analysis methodology named local indicators of …
