An e‐learning framework for assessment (FREMA)
Assessment) project that aims at creating a Reference Model for the Assessment Domain and delivering it via a heavily interlinked Web site. Because the resulting network of resources (standards, projects, people, organisations, software, services and use cases) is so complex, we require a method of providing users with a structured navigational method that does not require them knowing at first what they might want to find. This led us to look at…
Delivery of QTIv2 question types
The IMS Question and Test Interoperability (QTI) standard identifies 16 different question types which may be used in online assessment. While some partial implementations exist, the R2Q2 project has developed a complete solution that renders and responds to all 16 question types as specified. In addition, care has been taken in the R2Q2 project to ensure that the solution produced will allow for future changes in the specification. The design of…

Feedback in the Acquisition of a Miniature Artificial Language
The role of explicit informational feedback about semantic and syntactic errors was investigated in an experiment where university students were required to learn a miniature artificial language. A computer presented a series of simple geometric objects on a visual display screen, and alternately provided the proper description of the configuration (a model) or accepted and corrected the descriptions of the subject. The four experimental conditio…
Forced-Choice and Counterbalanced Versions of the F Scale
The predictive power of counterbalanced and forced-choice formats of the F scale was investigated. In earlier studies, the predictive criterion was, generally, reflected in correlations of either format with S 's responses on the original F scale. Here, the criterion measures were scores on prejudice scales. The results support the view offered by Strickland and Janicki (1963), namely, that the counterbalanced format measures an acquiescent style…
