Eggcentrism: On How Eggs Come to Matter in Chinese IVF
We introduce eggcentrism to examine how eggs govern women's time, choices, and worth in Chinese IVF clinics. Drawing on eighteen months of ethnographic fieldwork, we explore how clinical and social infrastructures render the egg central to scrutiny and responsibility. Through clinical observations and patient narratives, we critique how reproductive care practices make the egg visible, actionable, and culturally charged. While women's bodies are …

This article investigates the local meanings of halal from the perspectives of Uyghurs and Hui, who are the major Muslim ethnic minorities in China. It argues that the expressions of qingzhen and musulmanche demonstrate social concerns, anxiety of ethnic identity and ongoing intra-group competitions, which are not exclusively related to religion. Sympathy and Punishment: Evolution of Cooperation in Public Goods Game
An important way to maintain human cooperation is punishing defection. However, since punishment is costly, how can it arise and evolve given that individuals who contribute but do not punish fare better than the punishers? This leads to a violation of causality, since the evolution of punishment is prior to the one of cooperation behaviour in evolutionary dynamics. Our public goods game computer simulations based on generalized Moran Process, sh…
Distribution of Alpha-2-HS-glycoprotein Types in Four East Asian Populations
The genetic polymorphism of alpha-2-HS-glycoprotein (AHSG) have been analyzed in Chinese, Korean and remaining Japanese orphan in China populations by isoelectric focusing and immunoblotting technique. Three new variants designated as AHSG *Cl, AHSG *C2 and AHSG *C3 were found. The frequencies of common alleles (AHSG *1 and AHSG *2) were approximately the same among East Asian populations
