Avoidance Coping as a Vulnerability Factor for Negative Drinking Consequences Among Injury Survivors Experiencing PTSD Symptoms: An Ecological Momentary Assessment Study
The purpose of this study was to examine the dynamic relationships between daily PTSD symptom severity (PTSS), cognitive and behavioral avoidance coping, and negative drinking consequences following recent injury. Participants consisted of 36 injury survivors (M age = 34.0, SD = 10.8; 75.0% male; 69.4% White) who completed thrice daily assessments of PTSS, avoidance coping, and negative drinking consequences for 7 days at 6-weeks post-injury. The utility of hair cortisol concentrations in the prediction of PTSD symptoms following traumatic physical injury
Trajectories of daily PTSD symptoms in recent traumatic injury victims
High-risk injury victims can be identified by their daily PTSS, allowing for early identification of those at risk for elevated distress and in greater need for intervention. (PsycINFO Database Record
Serpentine and Steatite Artifacts from the Washington County, Pennsylvania Hatfield Site: Descriptions and Theories of Origins
Two surface-collected artifacts from the Late Prehistoric Hatfield site, Washington County, Pennsylvania, are discussed. One of these, a small incised serpentine bowl fragment, is described, and theories of its possible origin in Tennessee are considered, along with a second serpentine effigy pipe that is reported to have been found in Washington County. The second Hatfield site artifact is the bowl of a steatite pipe that is attributed to the Pr…
