  • A daily diary study on the relationship between negative affect and problematic short video use: The mediating role of rumination and the cross-level moderating role of self-control

Youling Bai, Can Ben et al.•ARTICLE•Information Communication & Society•2026

The widespread use of short video applications (apps), a rapidly expanding form of digital social media particularly popular among young adults, has raised growing concerns about problematic short video use (PSVU). Although prior research has demonstrated the between-person relationships between specific negative emotions (e.g., depression, stress) and PSVU, little is known about the within-person relationship between general negative affect and …

  • Gender Differences in the Relationship Between Short-Form Video Addiction and Adolescent Depression: The Mediating Role of Attentional Bias

Open Access•Yu Wu, Youling Bai et al.•ARTICLE•Cyberpsychology Behavior and…•2025

Previous studies have shown that short-form video addiction (SVA) is a significant predictor of adolescent depression. However, little is known about the mediating mechanisms. Guided by the Interaction of Person-Affect-Cognition-Execution model, this study aimed to investigate the relationship between SVA and depression among Chinese adolescents and to examine the mediating role of attentional bias toward positive information (API) and negative i…

  • The cognitive mechanism of reducing procrastination by emotion regulation: The mediation role of task aversiveness

Tingting Tong, Youling Bai et al.•ARTICLE•Acta Psychologica Sinica•2024
