  • An Informal Look at Farm Stress

    As a preliminary part of research to develop a scale of farm stress, interviews were conducted and information collected from 140 Manitoba farmers. The results suggest that farmers are experiencing chronically high stress intensified by perceptions of lack of control over the major stressors of government policy, weather, and market conditions.   • Trait Anxiety in Mothers: Differences Associated with Employment Status, Family Size and Age of Children

    The State-Trait Anxiety Inventory was administered to 345 adult women to determine if anxiety was related to employment status, number of children, and age of children. Respondents were categorized as not employed, employed part-time, or employed full-time and also in terms of number and ages of children.   • Factor Analysis of Students' Attitudes toward Working Mothers

    240 university students rated the concept working mothers with pre-school children on a series of 42 bipolar adjectives. Factor analysis of the ratings suggested that the concept was judged along three orthogonal dimensions, social acceptability, liberated-assertive and tense-ambitious.
