  • European irregularized migration regime

    Open Access•Teodora Jovanović, Duško Petrović•ARTICLE•Glasnik Etnografskog instituta•2026

In this special issue, the European irregularized migration regime will be examined through an ethnographic perspective, based on studies carried out in its peripheries. Rather than treating this regime as a coherent or centralized system, the contributions trace how it is assembled through everyday practices, material environments, spatial conditions, temporalities, but also through modes of control, care and negotiation. The papers collected in…

  • (Re-)fugitive democracy

    Open Access•Duško Petrović•ARTICLE•Glasnik Etnografskog instituta•2026

The article aims to provide an analytical perspective for rethinking the essential concept of modern political theory, that of democracy, from a critical point of migration and mobility. In search of the perspective mentioned above, I follow the work of a group of authors featured in Minor Keywords of Political Theory: Migration as the critical standpoint, which critically reflects various keywords within the discourse of political theory and pol…

  • Dinamika herojstva i rada

Usto, analiziraju medijsko izvještavanje o tzv. tulumu u K…

  • Death or (just) dying? Philosophical - anthropological conversations about the interpretations of the experience of death

    Open Access•Dora Bednjanec, Duško Petrović•ARTICLE•Glasnik Etnografskog instituta•2022

In the article, we deal with death as a universal problem of human existence, which nevertheless experiences certain transformations over time, since it depends partly on the specific historical and social context. We talked about death with people who no longer practice traditional posthumous customs and whose religious belief does not affect attitudes towards death, i.e. with people who have a ?mundane?, skeptical attitude towards death. The co…

  • Ordinary Affects During the Democratization of Violence in the Context of the Breakup of Yugoslavia

    Open Access•Duško Petrović•ARTICLE•Politička misao•2022•References: 1

In the paper, based on the analysis of ethnographic material, the author explains the emergence of ordinary affects during the breakup of Yugoslavia. He shows that the ordinary affects were unfolding amid social anomie created by the collapse of the Yugoslav state and the processes of ethnicization on the subnational level. One of the striking features of the processes of ethnicization was targeted violence against civilians or democratization of…

  • Phenomenon of refugeeness in the modern political system

    Open Access•Duško Petrović•ARTICLE•Glasnik Etnografskog instituta•2014

So far, the multidisciplinary research of the phenomenon of refugeeness demonstrated, that the standard institutional, social, discursive response can be observed, regardless of the historic, social and geographical context. Using the autoethnographic research method and a part of his biography, the author is proposing the explanation for that situation. In his interpretation, the hegemonic discursive, institutional and social approach is a conse…

  • The Biopolitics of Refugeeness and Asylum in the Context of the Crisis of Political Asylum in the West

U opce tendencije ubraja human…
