  • Synergies in psychedelic-assisted therapy: A qualitative interview study of psychotherapeutic processes

Open Access•Jonathan Stellmacher, Christopher Schmidt et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2026

Research on the therapeutic effects of psychedelics in psychiatry, commonly referred to as Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy (PAT), has expanded substantially in recent years. The context-dependent nature of psychedelics has sparked discussion about the importance of the psychotherapeutic environment in achieving beneficial outcomes. This study explores the contribution of psychotherapeutic factors on PAT in Switzerland, where psychedelic treatments c…

  • Determining onset of significant facial pathology using dental wear and microwear texture analysis: A case study from the Middle Archaic (~5,500 BP) of Indiana

Open Access•Anna Casserly, Rebecca Van Sessen et al.•ARTICLE•Dental Anthropology Journal•2018•Cited by: 4

Paleopathologists face complicated presentations of osteological conditions that ac-crued over a considerable period of ill-health. Determining the relative sequence of symptoms and how long the individual lived with them is critical to understanding disease onset and progression in the body and may help to identify a specific disease. This paper describes an atypical presentation of the dentition associated with a 5,000-year-old case of treponem…

  • Warhol’s Problem Project: The Time Capsules

    Open Access•Christopher W Schmidt, Christopher Schmidt•ARTICLE•Postmodern Culture•2015

This essay examines the split function of Andy Warhol’s Time Capsules as both research archive and unrealized art project. It suggests that the Time Capsules epitomize Warhol’s career-long preoccupation with consumption and waste (a concern animating much of his art production), and that the extreme materiality of the 610 Time Capsules is a complicated response to dematerialization in conceptual art practices and the post-war global economy. Fina…

  • The Poetics of Waste

    Open Access•Christopher W Schmidt, Christopher Schmidt•BOOK•Poetics of Waste•2014

Modernist debates about waste - both aesthetic and economic - often express biases against gender and sexual errancy. The Poetics of Waste looks at writers and artists who resist this ideology and res

  • Effects of Generational Competition and Substitution on Late Labour Participation and Labour Market Exit from a Multilevel Perspective

Open Access•Henriette Engelhardt, Christopher Schmidt et al.•ARTICLE•Comparative Population Studies•2013•References: 4

In this paper, we investigate the effects of demographic, economic and labour market structures on labour market participation and on the transition to inactivity (exit) for older males in eleven European countries. Theoretically, our analysis is guided by considerations of intragenerational competition and intergenerational substitution. Following Easterlin's hypothesis that intragenerational competition rises with cohort size, we assume a negat…

    Christopher Schmidt, Christopher M Schmidt et al.•ARTICLE•Zeitschrift für Soziologie•2012•Cited by: 1•References: 1

  • Brief communication: Correcting overestimation when determining two‐dimensional occlusal area in human molars

    Open Access•Christopher W Schmidt, Christopher Schmidt et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•2011•References: 29

The robustness index (RI) is determined by multiplying dental mesiodistal and buccolingual diameters, and is used to estimate occlusal area. However, because teeth are not rectangular its calculation consistently causes overestimations. Moreover, teeth, in particular molars, are not identically shaped so overestimations vary. The current study seeks to determine the extent to which overestimations are affected by tooth shape and to improve RI's e…

  • The Waste-Management Poetics of Kenneth Goldsmith

    Christopher W Schmidt, Christopher Schmidt•ARTICLE•SubStance•2008

For those who follow closely contemporary American poetry scene, perhaps no recent figure has made a greater intervention in received ideas of poetic excellence than Kenneth Goldsmith. This self-described conceptual has managed to become the most critically well inspected writer now under age of 50 in United States by ceding all claims to authorial originality and practicing instead a procedural, quasi-robotic poetics.1 Warhol famously declared, …

  • Qualitative Insights into Leisure as a Spiritual Experience

Christopher D Schmidt, Christopher Schmidt et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Leisure Research•2007•Cited by: 20•References: 16

This study explored lived, leisure experiences for 24 self-selected individuals who identified having experienced leisure that was spiritual. Using a phenomenological approach, the study revealed complex descriptions of these experiences where individuals simultaneously felt, acted, thought and were aware. Analysis of the data indicated that spiritual experiences could occur in a range of leisure contexts, could be triggered by catalysts such as …
