  • A multimedia fate and chemical transport modeling system for pesticides

Open Access•Rong Li, M Trevor Scholtz et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2011

Pesticides have adverse health effects and can be transported over long distances to contaminate sensitive ecosystems. To address problems caused by environmental pesticides we developed a multimedia multi-pollutant modeling system, and here we present an evaluation of the model by comparing modeled results against measurements. The modeled toxaphene air concentrations for two sites, in Louisiana (LA) and Michigan (MI), are in good agreement with…

  • A multimedia fate and chemical transport modeling system for pesticides

Open Access•Rong Li, Li Rong et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2011

We have combined the US EPA MM5/MCIP/SMOKE/CMAQ modeling system with a dynamic soil model, the pesticide emission model (PEM), to create a multimedia chemical transport model capable of describing the important physical and chemical processes involving pesticides in the soil, in the atmosphere, and on the surface of vegetation. These processes include: agricultural practices (e.g. soil tilling and pesticide application mode); advection and diffus…

  • Northeast Aero Historians

    James J Sloan•ARTICLE•Technology and Culture•1970

The conference of Northeast Aero Historians, sponsored by six organizations, both local and national, was held at Rhinebeck, New York, on October 11, 1969. Held adjacent to the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome and the Cole Palen Collection, the meeting attracted some 165 persons who heard papers, viewed motion picture films, and watched an aerial display of ancient airplanes by the local Snoopy and Red Baron. George Fuller (associate editor, Journal of th…

  • Fifty Years of Air Transport History

    R Cargill Hall, James J Sloan•ARTICLE•Technology and Culture•1970

Conference Reports FIFTY YEARS OF AIR TRANSPORT HISTORY: AIAA MEETING, ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA OCTOBER 1969 R. CARGILL HALL AND JAMES J. SLOAN The Sixth Annual Meeting of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), held at Anaheim, California, in October 1969, had “Air Transportation” as its general theme. The AIAA Tech nical Committee on History sponsored an all-day session of papers on aviation transport history, in two parts: “…
