  • Evaluating Methods for Reducing Sampling Bias in Network Analysis

    Open Access•J R Allison, James Allison•ARTICLE•Peer Community In Archaeology•2024

This study aims to investigate the dynamics of obsidian trade networks during the Jomon period (approximately 15,000 to 2,400 years ago), the hunting and gathering era in Japan. To improve regional representation and reduce the distortions caused by small sample sizes, we performed clustering based on a large-scale dataset and conducted social network analysis. The research results revealed that the trade networks during the Jomon period were not…

  • Sharing Research Code in Archaeology

    Open Access•J R Allison, James Allison•ARTICLE•Peer Community In Archaeology•2023

In this paper we trace the development of an R-package starting with the adaptation of code from a different field, via scripts shared between colleagues, to a published package that is being successfully used by researchers world-wide. Our aim is to encourage researchers to prepare their custom analysis code in a way that is useful and easily reusable for others

Beverly B Green, Gloria D Coronado et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Public Health•2014•Cited by: 4•References: 21

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) mandates that both Medicaid and insurance plans cover life-saving preventive services recommended by the US Preventive Services Task Force, including colorectal cancer (CRC) screening and choice between colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, and fecal occult blood testing (FOBT). People who choose FOBT or sigmoidoscopy as their initial test could face high, unexpected, out-of-pocket costs because the mandate does not c…

  • A note on choosing a service provider from telephone listings: Focus on community mental health centers

Open Access•James P Allison, James Allison et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Community Psychology•1981

178 college students searched telephone directories with instruction to find help for a friend with a serious emotional problem. There were no significant differences between white and yellow pages or between fine or bold print in the relative frequency with which CMHCs were found. The most important listing in the white pages was "Mental Health Center" and in the yellow pages was under "Clinics." More than two listings did not increase the relat…
