  • Exploring the Complexities of Negotiation

    Open Access•Minyoung Choi, Joshua S Yang•ARTICLE•Journal of Artificial Societies…•2024

Organizational silos pose a common challenge for many companies, as they create barriers to communication, coordination, and resource efficiency. Addressing these challenges necessitates successful negotiation, yet the realm of multi-level team negotiation remains understudied. This research employs a computational simulation model to explore the dynamics of two-level negotiation, encompassing interactions of individuals searching for an agreemen…

  • The ecology of relatedness

Oliver Sng, Minyoung Choi et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Personality and Social…•2024

How does living in an environment with many or few family relatives shape our psychology? Here, we draw upon ideas from behavioral ecology to explore the psychological effects of ecological relatedness-the prevalence of family relatives in one's environment. We present six studies, both correlational and experimental, that examine this. In general, people and populations that live in ecologies with more family relatives (Studies 1-4b), or who ima…

  • The directed nature of social stereotypes

Oliver Sng, Minyoung Choi et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Personality and Social…•2024•Cited by: 1

Stereotypes are strategically complex. We propose that people hold not just stereotypes about what groups are generally like (e.g., "men are competitive") but stereotypes about how groups behave toward specific groups (e.g., "men are competitive toward")-what we call directed stereotypes. Across studies, we find that perceivers indeed hold directed stereotypes. Four studies examine directed stereotypes of sex and age (Studies 1 and 2; N = 541) an…

  • Gender gap and gender data gap in futures research

Open Access•Hyerim Ahn, Minyoung Choi et al.•ARTICLE•Futures•2024•References: 55

The gender gap in futures research, rooted in male dominance, results in limited visibility of female futurists and neglect of women's issues. This study focuses on the gender data gap as an indicator of the existing gender gap in futures research and analyze the literature employing the Delphi technique—a widely employed research method in this field. When societal gender gaps influence data collection and utilization, a gender data gap arises, …

  • Longevity of Partnering Terrorist Organization

Hyeseung Choi, Minyoung Choi et al.•ARTICLE•Terrorism and Political Violence•2024

Cooperation between two terrorist groups benefits both, but there are also risks. This paper focuses on these risks, especially how the demise of one group affects the longevity of the remaining groups. Using a generalized equation estimations (GEE) model with data from the Global Terrorism Database (GTD) from 2001 to 2016, this paper analyses how the disbanding of one partner terrorist group with the same ideology and regime type affects the lon…

  • Development of Healthcare Service Design Concepts for Nicu Parental Education

Open Access•Hanui Yu, Dahae Woo et al.•ARTICLE•Children•2021

The objective of this study was to develop healthcare service design concepts through an empirical study utilizing design thinking to improve the quality of caregiver education provided in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). This study adopted the Double Diamond Process of service design comprising the discover, define, and development stages. We identified 7 issues, organized into 10 healthcare service design concepts associated with NICU e…
