In this paper we examine recently completed research in the Scottish housebuilding industry as it emerges from recession. Intra-Urban Variations in Unemployment Duration
The paper examines variations in unemployment duration between job-seekers from a deprived urban area and a control group drawn from adjoining areas. The basic hypothesis is that the concentration of 'problem families' in the deprived estate leads to the stigmatisation of the area.
