The Social Policy of Italian Fascism and the International Labour Organization
The article traces Fascist Italy’s participation in the International Labour Organization. The Italian presence was marked both by tensions—originating mainly from the removal of trade union freedom imposed by Mussolini’s regime—and by profound convergences. The representatives of the regime actively contributed to the functioning of a transnational circuit of analysis and legislation in the field of labor and social policies embodied in the ILO.…
Fascist Italy in the Age of Corporatism
The interwar period was marked in Europe by the rediscovery of corporatism as a possible solution to the crucial problems of modern mass society. It examines three distinct but related phenomena: the ‘Mus…

The neo-fascist party, Movimento Sociale Italiano (M.S.I.), was born immediately after the Second World War. Furthermore, the transition to Republic coexisted with structural continuity with the dictatorship: many elements of fascist state, as the administrative institutions, central bureaucracy and economic ruli…

O corporativismo da Itália fascista entre palavras e realidade
It is common knowledge that State intervention in Italy in the Twenties and the Thirties developed outside of corporative institutions. The history of Fascist corporatism, however, is not only an unsuccessful story. Despite the failure of the “corporatist revolution” and “Fascist third way”, Fascist corporatism since the mid-Twenties helped the progressive development of a new political system to regulate relationship between State and private in…
