  • Covid-19 vaccine hesitancy and attitudes toward routine vaccinations among Venezuelan migrants in Trinidad and Tobago: Implications for a National Immunization Policy

Open Access•Nyla Lyons, Brendon Bhagwandeen et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2024

Introduction: Vaccine hesitancy poses a threat to the prevention of COVID-19 and other vaccine-controlled diseases. In 2019, the Government of Trinidad and Tobago launched a policy outlining the scope of health services in the public sector available to registered Venezuelan migrants to include access to routine immunizations. Little is understood about immunization uptake among migrants, including the uptake of COVID-19 vaccinations in Trinidad …

    Open Access•Jeffrey Edwards, Jeffrey K Edwards•ARTICLE•Qualitative Report•2015•References: 6

The use of the Internet to gather data, produce and report research has changed the face of the fields of education and research. This paper will present a method for combining electronic on-line media and Delphi methodology to begin the process of ethnographic research with participant inclusion, informed consent, data gathering by discourse facilitation, and preparation for coding. The use of a reflecting team by the research group provides imp…

  • Honestum is as Honestum Does: Reid, Hume – and Mandeville

    Open Access•Jeffrey Edwards•ARTICLE•Journal of Scottish Philosophy•2014•References: 1

How are we to understand Thomas Reid in relation to Bernard de Mandeville? I answer this question by considering two components of the assessment of Hume's theory of morals that Reid provides in his Essays on the Active Powers of Man: first, Reid's claim that Hume's system of morals cannot accommodate the Stoic conception of moral worth (honestum); second, Reid's charge that Hume's account of morally meritorious action leads to an inflated and in…

  • Kant and the Concept of Community

Charlton Payne, Lucas Thorpe et al.•BOOK•Kant and the Concept of Community•2011

The concept of community plays a central role in Kant's theoretical philosophy, his practical philosophy, his aesthetics, and his religious thought. Kant uses community in many philosophical contexts: the category of community introduced in his table of categories in the Critique of Pure Reason; the community of substances in the third analogy; the realm of ends as an ethical community; the state and the public sphere as political communities; th…

  • Truthiness and consequences in the public use of reason

    Open Access•Jeffrey Edwards•ARTICLE•Veritas (Porto Alegre)•2008

  • Substance, Force, and the Possibility of Knowledge: On Kant's Philosophy of Material Nature

Jeffrey R Edwards, Jeffrey Edwards•BOOK•Substance, Force, and the…•2000

A new understanding of Kant's theory of a priori knowledge and his natural philosophy emerges from Jeffrey Edwards's mature and penetrating study. In the Third Analogy of Experience, Kant argues for the existence of a dynamical plenum in space. This argument against empty space demonstrates that the dynamical plenum furnishes an a priori necessary condition for our experience and knowledge of an objective world. Such an a priori existence proof, …

  • Aids, Race, and the Rise and Decline of a Militant Oppositional Lesbian and Gay Politics in the US

    Jeffrey R Edwards, Jeffrey Edwards•ARTICLE•New Political Science•2000•Cited by: 4•References: 4

This essay is intended to open a discussion about building a coherent account of the decline of AIDS street activism amongst lesbians and gay men in the US in the early 1990s. It does so by demonstrating how a narrative of key events in the rise and decline of this activism can be structured by being linked to the trajectory of racial politics in the larger society. The argument is made that AIDS street activism was ultimately overwhelmed by poli…
