Hearing loss and hearing aid use in Hispanic adults
Data from the Hispanic Health and Nutrition Examination Survey were employed to investigate the prevalence of hearing loss and hearing aid use in Mexican-American, Cuban-American, and Puerto Rican adults. Hearing loss was 6 to 14 times more prevalent in older (ages 54 to 74) vs younger (ages 20 through 34) subjects. Cuban Americans and Mexican Americans tended to have a similar prevalence of hearing loss, whereas Puerto Ricans had markedly lower …

Common to a number of otherwise divergent writings is the attempt to offer a theory of how the changing organization of industrial production impinges upon average skill levels in the work force. From this basis, generalizations are made about the future development of the class structure of advanced capitalism. The note draws attention to certain aspects in which adolescent life-histories vary from region to region. In general the likelihood of recruitment to part-time rather than full-time study is greatest in English regions which are subject to economic decline.
