  • Proportional representation and incidence rate of repeat visits in ethnic minorities compared to native Dutch people under the age of 25 years in the Netherlands

Open Access•Ymke J Evers, Amanja Verhaegh et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Migration and Health•2025

  • Engagement in sexual healthcare and STI/HIV burden of first- and second-generation migrant and Western-born female sex workers in the Netherlands: A retrospective cohort study

Open Access•C Peters, Ymke J Evers et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Migration and Health•2024•References: 1

Migrant FSW versus Western-born FSW demonstrated a varying burden of STI, FGM heightened proportions and odds of infectious syphilis, hepatitis B and HIV and lower likelihood of repeat consultations. Enhancing accessibility and outreach efforts for migrant FSW in sexual healthcare services is imperative

  • Using a theoretical framework of Intervention Mapping to inform public health communication messages designed to increase vaccination uptake; the example of mpox in the Netherlands

Open Access•Ymke J Evers, Francine Schneider et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2023

IM provided a valuable tool in selecting communication methods to promote mpox vaccination uptake. These methods can be used to (more quickly) produce and implement a communication program in the context of possible future, vaccine-preventable, infectious disease outbreaks

  • Sexual (Risk) Behavior and Risk-Reduction Strategies of Home-Based Male Sex Workers Who Have Sex with Men (MSW–MSM) in The Netherlands: A Qualitative Study

Open Access•C Peters, 道夫 杉井 et al.•ARTICLE•Archives of Sexual Behavior•2023•References: 31

An understanding of sexual (risk) behavior is necessary to successfully develop prevention and care strategies for the sexually transmitted infections (STI) high-risk group of male sex workers who have sex with men (MSW–MSM). However, limited scientific knowledge is available on sexual (risk) behavior of (home-based) MSW–MSM. This study aimed to gain an understanding of sexual (risk) behavior, factors influencing sexual (risk) behavior, and appli…

  • Barriers and facilitators to utilisation of public sexual healthcare services for male sex workers who have sex with men (MSW-MSM) in The Netherlands: A qualitative study

Open Access•C Peters, Charlotte Merel Marije Peters et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2022

The MSW-MSM population's diversity and identified barriers, facilitators and implications should be taken into account to optimize accessibility and utilisation of SHS for MSW-MSM in Western Europe. SHS-providers could facilitate sex work disclosure by personally asking patients about sex in exchange for money or goods in a non-judgmental manner and explaining the medical relevance of disclosure

  • Sexual risk and STI testing behaviour among Dutch female and male self-employed sex workers; a cross-sectional study using an Internet based survey

    Open Access•Carolina J G Kampman, C Peters et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2022

The reported STI positivity rate among self-employed sex workers was not very high. However, STI prevention efforts remain important considering the low compliance with condom use during sex work. Moreover, not testing for STIs in the past year was substantial with one-third of both FSW and MSW and one-third of both FSW and MSW being unaware of the possibility of low-threshold testing at an STI clinic, warranting efforts to increase testing uptak…

  • The Embodied Word: Female Spiritualities, Contested Orthodoxies, and English Religious Cultures, 1350-1700, by Nancy Bradley Warren

    C Peters•ARTICLE•The English Historical Review•2012

Nancy Bradley Warren has produced a bold and thought-provoking book, but, paradoxically, one that is interesting for reasons other than its challenge to the scholarly orthodoxies which it principally claims to contest. A focus on intersubjectivity is a helpful tool to analyse Warren’s material, for example, but few would now subscribe to the medieval corporate self–early modern individual paradigm against which it is directed. Instead, the main i…

  • Sourcing fire ash on archaeological sites in the Western and Northern Isles of Scotland, using mineral magnetism

    Open Access•Mike J Church, C Peters et al.•ARTICLE•Geoarchaeology•2007•Cited by: 11•References: 5

The application of a new technique developed to identify different fuel sources from ash on nine archaeological sites in the Western and Northern Isles of Scotland is presented. The technique is based on variations observed in the mineral magnetic signatures that derive from the experimental burning of different fuels. The application of the technique is successful, demonstrating both uniformity and diversity in fuel use. A marked continuity of p…

  • Investigation of fire ash residues using mineral magnetism

    Open Access•C Peters, Mike J Church et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeological Prospection•2001•Cited by: 8•References: 6

As part of a wider research programme of experimental archaeology at Calanais Farm, Isle of Lewis, Scotland, a number of experimental hearths were constructed, based on excavated evidence from the Late Iron Age houses at Bostadh, Lewis. Controlled and repeated burning of different fuel sources (well‐humified peat, fibrous upper peat, peat turf and wood) was carried out over a number of burning episodes, each of three days duration. A range of min…

  • Supermagnetic enhancement, superparamagnetism, and archaeological soils

    Open Access•C Peters, Roy Thompson•ARTICLE•Geoarchaeology•1999

A range of mineral magnetic measurements have been carried out on archaeological sediments from Orkney and Cyprus. In a soil profile from Orkney, a magnetic enhancement factor of over 200 is observed in susceptibility data between the bedrock and a Norse sediment. The magnetic enhancement is associated with an increase in superparamagnetic grains probably caused by burning. Until now it has proved difficult to confirm the presence of superparamag…
