  • Transforming a world that never stands still

Open Access•Tom Hertz, Anja Klein et al.•ARTICLE•Ecosystems and People•2025

Process-relational perspectives (PRP) have been put forward as a crucial contribution for conceptualizing radical transformations towards sustainability. This is because PRP conceptualize transformations as open processes. This openness is attributed, first, to processes and relations having performative power, which means that processes and relations are constitutive of elements. Second, PRP take processes and relations as continuously unfolding…

  • Disentangling the entangled in productive ways

    Open Access•Maja Schlüter, Tom Hertz et al.•ARTICLE•Sustainability Science•2025•References: 12

Process-relational perspectives have been proposed as new ways of conceptualising, analysing and engaging with social–ecological systems (SES) that are capable of dealing with intertwinedness and complexity. The application of PR perspectives in SES research, however, remains challenging and largely conceptual. We explore the possibilities of combining process-relational thought with agent-based modelling as a methodology for thinking with and ex…

  • From situated knowledges to situated modelling

Open Access•Anja Klein, Krystin Unverzagt et al.•ARTICLE•Ecosystems and People•2024

In this paper we extend the use of a relational approach to simulation modelling, a widely used knowledge practice in sustainability science. Among modellers, there is awareness that model results can only be interpreted in view of the assumptions that inform model construction and analysis, but less systematic questioning of those assumptions. Moreover, current methodological discussions tend to focus on integrating social and ecological dynamic…

  • Resilience and Return in Isaiah-Using Resilience Theory in Hebrew Scripture Theology

    Open Access•Anja Klein•ARTICLE•Religions•2023•References: 24

The article analyses the theology of homecoming in the book of Isaiah and makes a case for using resilience theory as a hermeneutical frame for the task of Hebrew Scripture theology. Defined as "positive adaptation despite adversity", resilience builds on the crisis setting of wide parts of the Hebrew Scriptures and demonstrates that the formation of theology represents a resilience discourse. In the case of the Isaianic prophecies of return, thr…

  • Images of Exile in the Prophetic Literature

Anja Klein, Frederik Poulsen et al.•BOOK•Images of Exile in the Prophetic…•2019

Exile is a central concern in the Hebrew Bible. But what role did language and metaphors play in the prophets attempts to express, structure, and cope with the experience of exile? The present volume answers these and other questions by investigating and discussing images of exile in the prophetic books.

  • Praying Biblical History. The Phenomenon of History in the Psalms

Anja Klein•ARTICLE•Hebrew Bible and Ancient Israel•2015

The article argues that the reception of biblical history starts with the Song of the Sea (Exodus 15) and is then carried into the book of Psalms. It is here that the historical psalms (Psalms 78; 105; 106; 135; 136; 137) continue the exegesis with different emphases, which results in an ongoing discourse on biblical history. Finally, the penitential prayer in Nehemiah 9 systematises the historical psalms. This dynamic exegetical process can be d…

  • Zieht heraus aus Babel« Beobachtungen zum Zweiten Exodus im Deuterojesajabuch

    Anja Klein•ARTICLE•Zeitschrift für Theologie und…•2015

The author demonstrates that the promise of a new or second Exodus does not form an integral part of the original prophecy in the book of Deutero-Isaiah. Rather, it is an important topic of the literary reinterpretation and shows how biblical history finds its way into prophetic literature. As such, the motif contributes decisively to constitute the people's identity as being the people of Yhwh.

  • Geschichte und Gebet

    Anja Klein•BOOK•Forschungen Zum Alten Testament,…•2014

Anja Klein presents a literary and theological analysis of the historical psalms Exod 15, Ps 78, 105, 106, 114, 135 and 136. Her study focuses on the redactional history of these texts and the demonstration of inner-biblical exegesis within their literary growth.
