A growing number of religious congregations are developing under-utilized land to create affordable housing, motivated by both faith mission and economic need. This research study seeks to examine successful congregation affordable housing partnerships, identify development p…

Prevalence and Social-Ecological Correlates of Intimate Partner Violence in a Conflict Zone—Evidence From the 2015 Afghanistan Demographic and Health Survey
This study examined the prevalence and social-ecological correlates of male-to-female intimate partner violence (IPV) in Afghanistan. World citizens
This article examines how Australian women broadcasters used radio to claim their own voices as experts on international affairs and encourage other women to become active world citizens in the 1930s. During a decade when the Great Depression limited the ability of many to travel, and the increasing calamity of the rise of fascism and the descent into World War II brought foreign affairs to the forefront of public debate, broadcasting became a ke…

We argue that shifts in the sociopolitical and theoretical context within which development research communication is being put into practice; the range and configurations of actors and roles being deployed; and technological advances or innovations available for research communica…
Stimulating Demand for Research Evidence
There has been a great deal of interest in recent years in supporting evidence?informed policymaking in developing countries. In particular, there have been efforts to build the capacity of researchers and research intermediaries to supply appropriately packaged research information (for example in the form of policy briefs) to policymakers. While supply of research information is important, it will only be used to inform policy if it is accessed…
Between Pragmatism and Idealism
Implementing a systemic approach to capacity development is more challenging than stakeholders expect and can be difficult to communicate to colleagues, donors and intended beneficiaries. This article explores challenges faced by the IDS Knowledge Services as it sought to turn an understanding of capacity development into practice. Drawing on the experience of one small scale programme it argues that: \n \n \n • \n for organisations to facilitate…
The Spontaneous Imaginative Life
From an interweaving of the journal entries of four dykes involved in a polyamorous network, a picture of the day-to-day complexities of polyamory emerges. Relationship to family and community, jealousy, shame and acceptance of self are some of the issues dealt with in this narrative. The story unfolds in a rural community in British Columbia, Canada, where they all live. This piece is an excerpt from a longer, ongoing work
