El desarrollo y la evaluación de la eficacia de las políticas contra la radicalización en España
Spain has become a major target of Islamic jihadists due to its specific history and unique geographic location. Since the jihadist terrorist attacks in Madrid in 2004, Spain and European countries decided to increase their focus on Islamic extremism. However, it was only after the domestic separatist terrorism was effectively curbed that the Spanish Government formally focused on addressing the Islamic extremism represented by Jihadism, at the n…
Confucius' Courtyard
For more than three thousand years, Chinese life - from the city and the imperial palace, to the temple, the market and the family home - was configured around the courtyard. So too were the accomplishments of China's artistic, philosophical and institutional classes. Confucius' Courtyard tells the story of how the courtyard - that most singular and persistent architectural form - holds the key to understanding, even today, much of Chinese societ…

Este artículo tiene por objetivo analizar la cooperación en salud entre China y Argentina ante la crisis sanitaria de la COVID-19 desde la perspectiva de la gobernanza multinivel. Chinese Architecture in an Age of Turmoil, 200-600
Between the fall of the Han dynasty in 220 CE and the year 600, more than thirty dynasties, kingdoms, and states rose and fell on the eastern side of the Asian continent. The founders and rulers of those polities represented the spectrum of peoples in North, East, and Central Asia. Nearly all of them built palaces, altars, temples, tombs, and cities, and almost without exception, the architecture was grounded in the building tradition of China. I…

Allegorical Architecture
Allegorical Architecture offers the first detailed architectural analysis of built forms and building types of the minority groups in southern China and of the Dong nationality in particular. It argues that Dong architecture symbolically resembles its inhabitants in many ways. The built world is an extension of their body and mind; their experience of architecture is figurative and their understanding of it allegorical. Unlike the symbolism of hi…
Accidental Affinities
This essay looks at the adoption of American Beaux-Arts in China. China's first architecture school was established in the 1920s in Nanjing. The Nanjing School enjoyed a prosperous time in the 1940s when a group of young architects joined the faculty. Most of them had been trained in the 1920s at the University of Pennsylvania under Paul Philippe Cret. The most prominent among them was Yang Tingbao, a star pupil of Cret's. Yang became one of the …
Empowerment in the Practice of Making and Inhabiting
The Dong is one of the 55 officially recognized ethnic groups in China. Although its history can be traced back thousands of years, Dong culture is essentially non-textualized. It takes forms in 'images', such as music, per formance, textiles, social customs, rituals and, most importantly, architec ture. In the practice of making and inhabiting their architecture, such as 'wind-and-rain bridges' and 'drum towers', the Dong have been able to stra …
