Fatigue on Waking, Insomnia, and Workplace Relationship Problems May Help to Detect Suicidal Ideation among New Middle-Aged Primary Care Patients
Signs of suicidal depression often go undetected in primary care settings. This study explored predictive factors for depression with suicidal ideation (DSI) among middle-aged primary care patients at 6 months after an initial clinic visit. New patients aged 35-64 years were recruited from internal medicine clinics in Japan. Baseline characteristics were elicited using self-administered and physician questionnaires. DSI was evaluated using the Zu…
Effectiveness of a Japanese-style health program in Minowa Town, Matsumoto city and Nagano city, Japan
Purpose This study aims to establish a Japanese-style healthcare program customized for Japan and Asia under ISO 9001: 2008 (ISO: International Organization for Standardization) to improve problem areas and to inspect the effectiveness of the program. Furthermore, the authors wanted to create this health program using the ISO widely available in Asian countries and make an international contribution. Design/methodology/approach The authors implem…
The Estimation of Dynamic Bivariate Mixture Models
Watanabe estimated the dynamic bivariate mixture models introduced by Tauchen and Pitts and modified by Andersen using a Bayesian method via Markov chain Monte Carlo techniques. Based on a maximum likelihood method via efficient importance sampling, Liesenfeld and Richard obtained estimates that are significantly different from those of Watanabe. This note corrects the error in the multimove sampler used by Watanabe and reproduces all analyses in…
Bayesian Analysis of Dynamic Bivariate Mixture Models
Bivariate mixture models attribute the well-known positive correlation between return volatility and trading volume in financial markets to stochastic changes in a single latent variable representing the number of information arrivals. In this article, dynamic bivariate mixture models that allow for autocorrelation in the latent variable are analyzed by a Bayesian method via Markov-chain Monte Carlo techniques. The results, based on daily data fr…
