Gathering requirements for IoT-assisted wellbeing in elementary school—a multi-stakeholder perspective
Introduction Students experiencing poor wellbeing in elementary school can suffer lifelong consequences, including low self-esteem or depression. Understanding how to increase student wellbeing through information-based approaches is therefore important. While previous research has explored wellbeing frameworks, this study uniquely investigates the intersection of elementary school wellbeing with Internet of Things (IoT) implementation potential.…
Communicating Intent of Automated Vehicles to Pedestrians
While traffic signals, signs, and road markings provide explicit guidelines for those operating in and around the roadways, some decisions, such as determinations of "who will go first," are made by implicit negotiations between road users. In such situations, pedestrians are today often dependent on cues in drivers' behavior such as eye contact, postures, and gestures. With the introduction of more automated functions and the transfer of control…
Architecture and the Swedish welfare state: Three architectural competitions that innovated space for dependent and frail older people
In 2012, three architectural competitions were held as part of the strategic programme ‘ Living Well, Growing Old’, launched by the Swedish government in 2010. The intention was to use the innovative quality of the architectural competition in order to conceive future-oriented built environments for the ageing Swedish society. In Sweden, several architectural competitions with a focus on space for dependent and frail older people have been organi…
Architecture for the silver generation: Exploring the meaning of appropriate space for ageing in a Swedish municipality
On the Normal Inverse Gaussian Stochastic Volatility Model
In this article, the normal inverse Gaussian stochastic volatility model of Barndorff-Nielsen is extended. The resulting model has a more flexible lag structure than the original one. In addition, the second-and fourth-order moments, important properties of a volatility model, are derived. The model can be considered either as a generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedasticity model with nonnormal errors or as a stochastic volatility mod…
