  • Kinless Older Adults With Dementia

Open Access•J S Taylor, Marlaine Figueroa Gray et al.•ARTICLE•The Journals of Gerontology…•2023•Cited by: 2•References: 8

Our qualitative analysis reveals that the life trajectories that led members of the analytic cohort to be kinless at dementia onset were quite varied. This research highlights the importance of nonfamily caregivers and participants' own roles as caregivers. Our findings suggest that clinicians and health systems may need to work with other parties to directly provide dementia caregiving support rather than rely on family, and address factors such…

  • Scale-Up of Doppler to Improve Intrapartum Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring in Tanzania

Open Access•Marya Plotkin, John George et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2020

High-quality intrapartum care, including intermittent monitoring of fetal heart rates (FHR) to detect and manage abnormalities, is recommended by WHO and the Government of Tanzania (GoT) and creates potential to save newborn lives in Tanzania. Handheld Doppler devices have been investigated in several low-resource countries as an alternative to Pinard stethoscope and are more sensitive to detecting accelerations and decelerations of the fetal hea…

  • Timing of HIV Seroreversion Among HIV-Exposed, Breastfed Infants in Malawi

Open Access•Emily R Smith, Michael Hudgens et al.•ARTICLE•Maternal and Child Health Journal•2016

Introduction Rapid HIV serological tests are a cost-effective, point-of-care test among HIV exposed infants but cannot distinguish between maternal and infant antibodies. The lack of data on the timing of decay of maternal antibodies in young infants hinders the potential use of rapid tests in exposed infants. We aimed to determine the time to seroreversion for two commonly used rapid tests in a prospective cohort of HIV-exposed breastfeeding inf…
