  • Bundling measures for food systems transformation: A global, multimodel assessment

Open Access•Marina Sundiang, Thais Diniz Oliveira et al.•ARTICLE•The Lancet Planetary Health•2025•References: 9

  • No experiments’? Reprises and Remakes in 1950s West German Cinema

Stefan Frank, Stefanie Mathilde Frank•ARTICLE•Historical Journal Of Film Radio…•2025

This article examines and remakes of Nazi-era films in 1950s West Germany. It traces both continuities and changes that can be observed over the course of the decade. Both are discussed quantitatively (in terms of the number of screenings of reprises and remakes) and qualitatively (through an analysis of individual films). It is argued that, contrary to what a periodisation based on political caesuras might suggest, it is possible to trace a dire…

  • Cost and attainability of meeting stringent climate targets without overshoot

Open Access•Keywan Riahi, Christoph Bertram et al.•ARTICLE•Nature Climate Change•2021

  • Net zero-emission pathways reduce the physical and economic risks of climate change

Open Access•Laurent Drouet, Valentina Bosetti et al.•ARTICLE•Nature Climate Change•2021

  • Land-based climate change mitigation potentials within the agenda for sustainable development

Open Access•Stefan Frank, Mykola Gusti et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2021

Even though enormous expectations for greenhouse gas mitigation in the land use sector exist at the same time worries about potential implications for sustainable development have been raised as many Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are closely tied to developments in the sector. Here we assess the implications of achieving selected key SDG indicators for Zero Hunger, Clean Water and Sanitation, Responsible Consumption and Production, and Lif…

  • How much multilateralism do we need? Effectiveness of unilateral agricultural mitigation efforts in the global context

Open Access•Stefan Frank, Peter Havlík et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2021

Achieving climate neutrality in the European Union (EU) by 2050 will require substantial efforts across all economic sectors, including agriculture. At the same time, an ambitious unilateral EU agricultural mitigation policy is likely to have adverse effects on the sector and may have limited efficiency at global scale due to emission leakage to non-EU regions. To analyse the competitiveness of the EU's agricultural sector and potential non-CO 2 …

  • Land-based implications of early climate actions without global net-negative emissions

    Open Access•Tomoko Hasegawa, Shinichiro Fujimori et al.•ARTICLE•Nature Sustainability•2021•Cited by: 2•References: 14

  • Taking stock of national climate policies to evaluate implementation of the Paris Agreement

Open Access•Mark Roelfsema, Heleen Van Soest et al.•ARTICLE•Nature Communications•2020

Many countries have implemented national climate policies to accomplish pledged Nationally Determined Contributions and to contribute to the temperature objectives of the Paris Agreement on climate change. In 2023, the global stocktake will assess the combined effort of countries. Here, based on a public policy database and a multi-model scenario analysis, we show that implementation of current policies leaves a median emission gap of 22.4 to 28.…

  • Global hunger and climate change adaptation through international trade

Open Access•Charlotte Janssens, Peter Havlík et al.•ARTICLE•Nature Climate Change•2020

  • Global emissions pathways under different socioeconomic scenarios for use in CMIP6: A dataset of harmonized emissions trajectories through the end of the century

Open Access•Matthew Gidden, Keywan Riahi et al.•ARTICLE•Geoscientific Model Development•2019

We present a suite of nine scenarios of future emissions trajectories of anthropogenic sources, a key deliverable of the ScenarioMIP experiment within CMIP6. Integrated assessment model results for 14 different emissions species and 13 emissions sectors are provided for each scenario with consistent transitions from the historical data used in CMIP6 to future trajectories using automated harmonization before being downscaled to provide higher emi…

  • A multi-model assessment of food security implications of climate change mitigation

    Open Access•Shinichiro Fujimori, Tomoko Hasegawa et al.•ARTICLE•Nature Sustainability•2019•Cited by: 3•References: 16

  • Tackling food consumption inequality to fight hunger without pressuring the environment

    Open Access•Tomoko Hasegawa, Peter Havlík et al.•ARTICLE•Nature Sustainability•2019•Cited by: 4•References: 2

  • A low energy demand scenario for meeting the 1.5 °C target and sustainable development goals without negative emission technologies

Open Access•Arnulf Grübler, Charlie Wilson et al.•ARTICLE•Nature Energy•2018

  • Reducing greenhouse gas emissions in agriculture without compromising food security

Open Access•Stefan Frank, Peter Havlík et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2017

To keep global warming possibly below 1.5 oC and mitigate adverse effects of climate change, agriculture, like all other sectors, will have to contribute to efforts in achieving net negative emissions by the end of the century. Cost-efficient distribution of mitigation across regions and economic sectors is typically calculated using a global uniform carbon price in climate stabilization scenarios. However, in reality such a carbon price would su…

  • Assessing the land resource–food price nexus of the Sustainable Development Goals

    Open Access•Michael Obersteiner, S Walsh et al.•ARTICLE•Science Advances•2016

Researchers apply an economic model to trade-offs facing the UN’s ambitious Sustainable Development Goals agenda.

  • The dynamic soil organic carbon mitigation potential of European cropland

    Open Access•Stefan Frank, Erwin Schmid et al.•ARTICLE•Global Environmental Change•2015•Cited by: 1•References: 2

  • Climate change mitigation through livestock system transitions

Open Access•Peter Havlík, Petr Havlík et al.•ARTICLE•Proceedings of the National…•2014

Significance The livestock sector contributes significantly to global warming through greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. At the same time, livestock is an invaluable source of nutrition and livelihood for millions of poor people. Therefore, climate mitigation policies involving livestock must be designed with extreme care. Here we demonstrate the large mitigation potential inherent in the heterogeneity of livestock production systems. We find that e…
