We Do This Together: A Reflective Analysis on Collaborative Research With People With Dementia
In recent years, there has been a growing focus on incorporating the perspectives and experiences of people with dementia in research. However, collaborative research that engages with their everyday lives remains limited, and there is little reflection on this research approach. Our research project on everyday life with dementia was conducted in the Netherlands by a team comprising academic researchers and co-researchers with dementia. The co-r…
Functional Independence in the Community Dwelling Older People: A Scoping Review
Ageing potentially poses a threat to independent functioning of older adults. Although clinicians commonly focus on physical factors limiting Functional Independence (FI), it is likely that personal and environmental interactions also seem important to maintain FI. Herewith, FI exceeds several professional borders and calls for a uniform, multidisciplinary interdisciplinary supported definition of FI. This study aims to provide such a definition …
Nurse Practitioners in Community Health Care: A Rapid Scoping Review of Their Role, Tasks, Responsibilities, and Implementation in Northwest Europe
The objective of this rapid scoping review is to provide an overview of studies from northwest Europe that describe and evaluate community care delivered by a nurse practitioner (NP) in a team of healthcare professionals. In particular, we explore the roles of NPs within community care, the perceived impact at the patient and informal caregivers levels, and influencing factors (facilitating and impeding). This rapid scoping review was performed i…
Psychometric evaluation of the Decision Support Tool for Functional Independence in community-dwelling older people
The DST-FI suggests high validity and moderate reliability properties when used in a population of community-dwelling older people. The tool could facilitate community-care professionals in their task to preserve FI in older people. Future research should focus on psychometric properties like feasibility, acceptability, and developing and piloting strategies for implementation in community-care
Exploring nurse‐sensitive patient outcomes in Dutch district nursing care: A survey study
There is a lack of evidence to guide district nurses in using nurse-sensitive patient outcomes as it is unclear how these outcomes are currently used in daily district nursing practice. Therefore, we aimed to explore (1) which nurse-sensitive patient outcomes are measured and how these outcomes are measured, (2) how district nurses use the outcomes to learn from and improve current practice and (3) the barriers and facilitators to using outcomes …
The Impact of Covid-19 from the Perspectives of Dutch District Nurses: A Mixed-Methods Study
Little is known about how COVID-19 affects older patients living at home or how it affects district nursing teams providing care to these patients. This study aims to (1) explore, from the perspectives of Dutch district nurses, COVID-19's impact on patients receiving district nursing care, district nursing teams, and their organisations during the first outbreak in March 2020 as well as one year later; and (2) identify the needs of district nurse…
