Facilitators and barriers to cervical cancer screening among women living with HIV
Background Evidence suggests that 58% of new cervical cancer cases worldwide occur among women living with HIV. However, compared with HIV-negative women, this population has significantly poorer access to healthcare services for cervical cancer screening. There is a need to better understand the factors influencing their uptake of cervical cancer screening within the context of their lives. This study aims to objectively evaluate and synthesize …
Facilitators and barriers to physical activity in middle-aged and older adult(s) HIV infected persons
Purpose: This study aims to objectively evaluate and synthesize qualitative studies on the facilitators and barriers to PA among middle-aged and older adults living with HIV. Methods: A systematic search was conducted in four databases-Web of Science, Embase, PubMed, and CINAHL-covering the period from January 2000 to December 2024. The included studies were qualitatively reviewed according to the Enhancing Transparency in Reporting the Synthesis…
Aeolian sedimentary records of aeolian activity and climatic evolution after the retreat of the Zoige Paleolake in the northeastern Tibetan Plateau, China
Holocene wildfire activity and climate change in the Zoige Basin, eastern Tibetan Plateau, China
Understanding paleoenvironment changes and their driving mechanisms are crucial for predicting and responding to future climate change. Through extensive field investigations, a complete Holocene sedimentary profile has been discovered in the Zoige Basin of the eastern Tibetan Plateau. The history of Holocene wildfire activities and climate change in this region was reconstructed using various paleoclimate proxies, including charcoal, magnetic su…
Development process and environmental response of the first terrace in the Maqu reach of the Yellow River in the western margin of the Zoige Basin, eastern Tibetan Plateau, China
Micromorphological evidence of pedogenesis and paleoclimatic change in the Holocene loess-paleosol in the south Qinling Mountains, China
Extreme paleoflood events 3200–3000 a BP in the Jingyuan–Jingtai reaches of the upper Yellow River, China
A set of paleoflood slack water deposit (SWD) beds was identified within slope clasts at the Jinpingcun (JPC) site in the Jingyuan–Jingtai reaches of the upper Yellow River gorges based on sedimentary criteria and analytical results. Paleoflood hydrology methods were applied to reconstruct paleoflood events in the Jingyuan–Jingtai reaches. The paleoflood peak stages were calculated based on the highest end-point elevations of the SWDs. The HEC-RA…
Palaeo-earthquake and palaeo-mudflow events at the Machangyuan Ruins in the Huangshui River valley, northeastern margin of the Tibetan Plateau
Palaeo-earthquake event recorded by loess rapture fissures (N30°–40°W and N40°–50°E trending) and palaeo-mudflow event recorded by red clay deposits were identified at the Machangyuan Ruins in the Huangshui River valley, at the foot of the northeastern Tibetan Plateau. Comparative analysis of grain-size distributions and geochemical elements of local outcrops indicates that the red mudflows were sourced from the gullies on the valley side where u…
Sedimentary records of palaeofloods in the Wubu Reach along the Jin-Shaan gorges of the middle Yellow River, China
OSL dating of the massive landslide-damming event in the Jishixia Gorge, on the upper Yellow River, NE Tibetan Plateau
Frequent natural hazards cause huge damage to human life and society in the mountainous regions along the eastern rim of the Tibetan Plateau. A massive landslide damming event has been reported in the Jishixia Gorge on the upper Yellow River as it emerges from the NE Tibetan Plateau. It was speculated that a breach of the dammed lake might have resulted in a super flood disaster that ruined the major Neolithic settlement at Lajia (4.20–3.95 ka BP…
Palaeoenvironmental implications of the prehistorical catastrophes in relation to the Lajia Ruins within the Guanting Basin along the Upper Yellow River, China
Archaeological excavations have exposed a shocking picture of the prehistorical catastrophes in the Lajia Ruins in the upper Yellow River. The grouped skeletons resting on the dwelling floors show a vivid scene of the mortal struggle of human being during catastrophes. Geological records of the major disasters in relation to the devastation of this prehistorical settlement were investigated by detailed field observations, sedimentological analysi…
Wildfire history and climatic change in the semi-arid loess tableland in the middle reaches of the Yellow River of China during the Holocene
High-resolution macroscopic charcoal and sediment analysis was used to reconstruct fire history and environmental changes from three loess-paleosol profiles on the semi-arid loess tableland landscape during the Lateglacial period and the Holocene. Analysis of charcoal concentrations, influx, and the ratios of particle-size classes (from which changes in charcoal taphonomy over time are inferred) in the profiles show spatially coherent patterns of…
Organic stable carbon isotopic composition reveals late Quaternary vegetation changes in the dune fields of northern China
Vegetation changes during the late Quaternary in the dune fields of northern China are not well understood. We investigated organic carbon stable isotopic composition of surface soils, related mainly to the ratio of C 3 and C 4 plants, across a range of arid to subhumid climates in this region. Isotopic composition is weakly related to both temperature and moisture (multiple R 2 = 0.53), with the highest δ 13 C (greatest C 4 abundance) in the war…
Development of gully systems under the combined impact of monsoonal climatic shift and neo-tectonic uplift over the Chinese Loess Plateau
Comparative study of the modern flood slackwater deposits in the upper reaches of Hanjiang and Weihe River Valleys, China
Sedimentological study of the stratigraphy at the site of Homo erectus yunxianensis in the upper Hanjiang River valley, China
Sedimentary records of extraordinary floods at the ending of the mid-Holocene climatic optimum along the Upper Weihe River, China
Sedimentary records of the Holocene extraordinary floods were investigated in the upper reaches of the Weihe River, a major tributary in the middle Yellow River basin. Palaeoflood slackwater deposits (SWD) were identified at several sites on the riverbanks. These clayey silt beds are inserted into the Holocene aeolian loess-soil profiles and slope clastic deposits. They have recorded the extraordinary palaeoflood events which occurred between 320…
Holocene climatic changes revealed by aeolian deposits from the Qinghai Lake area (northeastern Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau) and possible forcing mechanisms
Previous palaeoclimatic studies in the northeastern Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau (NETP) during the Holocene, mainly using lake sediments, have deepened our understanding of the climatic system in this remote region. The timing and forcing mechanisms of climatic change in this region are still controversial, however. Aeolian sand and silt deposits, which are widely distributed in the NETP, can be readily dated by optically stimulated luminescence (OSL)…
