Transformational and Transactional Leadership, Sustainable Supply Chain Management Practice, and Organizational Responsiveness
Drawing on leadership theory and upper echelons theory, this study investigates the relationships between transformational (TFL) and transactional leadership (TSL), sustainable supply chain management practices (SSCMP), organizational responsiveness, and top management team's (TMT) sustainability commitment. With emphasis on how TMT sustainability commitment moderates these relationships, we analyze data from 235 manufacturing firms. Our findings…
A brief measure of individual differences in experiences of ageism across adulthood
Ageism-stereotypes, prejudice, and discrimination based on age-is widespread and harmful. Everyone has an age, therefore, ageism can be experienced by people at any life stage. Yet, most empirical research has focused on older adults. Recognising this limitation, the WHO Ageism Experiences Scale was developed and designed to capture the multidimensional nature of ageism across the life course. While the 15-item WHO Ageism Experiences Scale compre…
Sustainable supply chain management practices and performance
Currently, sustainable supply chain management practices have become an important strategy for firms to improve performance and gain competitive advantage. However, there is a current debate over the performance outcomes of sustainable supply chain management practices. Additionally, the role of stakeholder pressure is frequently overlooked. Drawing on Natural Resources-Based View and Stakeholder Theory, this study aims to elucidate the ambiguous…
Mental health trajectories surrounding retirement
While some recent studies have supported a prevailing opinion that retirement may affect mental health, few studies have covered an entire pre- to post-retirement process, as well as distinguishing both short-term and long-term effect of retirement. The aim of this study was to understand the mental health trajectories before, during, and after retirement, with a special focus on variations across income levels. We analysed data from 1538 partici…
Global policy diffusion as a socially constructed process
This study examines the diffusion of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, focusing on the dynamics of four core diffusion mechanisms and reinterpreting them within a multi-agent framework. This approach enhances understanding of policy diffusion as a socially constructed process, emphasizing the heterogeneous pathways that various agents navigate within a single mechanism. Such variances are vital for grasping the complexities of why policies diff…
Financial constraints and firms’ markup
Using the micro data of Chinese manufacturing firms, this study analyzes the impact of financial constraints on firms’ markup and their influence mechanism. The findings suggest that financial constraints significantly reduce firms’ markup. The result is still valid after a series of robustness tests, such as key indicator substitution, analysis of endogeneity problems, controlling for other policy changes, dynamic panel model estimation, and qua…
Changes in Sources and Composition of Beach Waste in Coastal Cities around the Bohai Sea of China during the Tourist Peak and Off-Peak Seasons
Beach waste is an important pollutant in the Bohai Sea and coastal cities around the Bohai Sea and has raised many social and environmental concerns in China. The semi-closed characteristics of the Bohai Sea, the well-developed tourism, the special industrial structure and residents' living habits endow the beach waste around Bohai sea with a unique character that should be explored. This study investigated changes in the sources and composition …
Transformational governance framework for institutions of cultural diplomacy
The conceptualisation and popularisation of soft power have spurred nation-states to establish and operate international institutions of cultural diplomacy (ICD) to exert global influence through cultural activities. The uniqueness of ICD lies in its many multiplicities: multi-national operation, multi-level coordination, and multi-actor participation. Such multiplicities challenge the understanding, policy design, and assessment of ICD. In respo…
The Destiny of Movies’ Box Office Performance in China
This article constructs an expectation-evaluation-performance model to investigate the effect of word-of-mouth on movie box office performance in China. The findings indicate that online rating score positively affects the total box office revenue through influencing the resilience of its life cycle. Specifically, 1 unit increase of the rating score would make the decay index 73.5% higher on average, positively contributing to relevant revenue in…
Predicting Groundwater Indicator Concentration Based on Long Short-Term Memory Neural Network
Prediction of groundwater quality is an essential step for sustainable utilization of water resources. Most of the related research in the study area focuses on water distribution and rational utilization of resources but lacks results on groundwater quality prediction. Therefore, this paper introduces a prediction model of groundwater quality based on a long short-term memory (LSTM) neural network. Based on groundwater monitoring data from Octob…
Cultural creative economy and urban competitiveness
This article has built a two-way analytical framework to investigate the interrelationship between the cultural creative economy (CCE) and urban competitiveness. Through operationalizing urban competitiveness into urban economic performance, urban development capacity, and urban attractiveness, this article reviews different CCE-based urban development strategies. The empirical results indicate that CCE development is related to all three aspects…
