Open Access•Zhang Yongpeng, Wang Yaxing et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2022

This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) and diabetic retinopathy (DR) and analyze whether DR is a risk factor for AMD. This population-based epidemiological study included 14,440 people from the Kailuan Eye Study in 2016, of whom 1,618 were patients with type 2 DM aged over 50 years, and 409 had DM with DR. We analyzed whether there were differences in the pr…

  • Remodelling care for low back pain

Open Access•Jasper W K Tong, Emily Tse Lin Ho et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2017

Introduction: Government-run primary healthcare polyclinics in Singapore are often overcrowded and overloaded due to the high fee-for-service (cost gradient) when patients visit private general practitioners (GP: USD22 vs. USD6) and physiotherapists (PT: USD91 vs. USD36). Moreover, patients often experience long wait time before receiving care due in part to limited physiotherapy services in the polyclinics. As a result, patients suffering from l…

  • Registered sex offenders and house prices

    Open Access•Steven B Caudill, Steven Caudill et al.•ARTICLE•Urban Studies•2015•Cited by: 2•References: 49

The sex offender registry system provides consumers with locations of registered sex offenders. This paper uses two methods to evaluate the impact of sex offender registries on house prices in Memphis. Using an hedonic spatial error model, we find that each additional sex offender in a one-mile radius results in a loss of about 2% of the property value and that a 10% increase in distance from the nearest sex offender increases value by about 0.17…
