How residential environment governance improves residents’ health and well-being—evidence from a quasi-natural experiment
Introduction Improvement in urban-rural residential environment is not only vital to national health and well-being, but also an important pillar for safeguarding global public health security and promoting the sustainable development of human health. Methods Taking China’s pilot program of the Ecological Restoration and Urban Renovation (ERUR) as a quasi-natural experiment, this study matches five waves of the China Health and Retirement Longitu…
The impact of Climate Adaptive Pilot Cities policy on urban pollution reduction and carbon emission mitigation
Mitigation and adaptation are recognized as essential pillars for urban sustainability; however, the degree to which adaptation oriented policies contribute to broader environmental improvements remains an unresolved empirical question. This study treats the Climate Adaptive Pilot Cities (CAPC) initiative as a quasi natural experiment to evaluate its integrated impacts on urban pollution and carbon reduction. Utilizing a multi period staggered di…
Simulation of Coupling Coordination and Resilience in Regional Economies and Information Network Institutions: The Case of the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei Urban Agglomeration
In the context of high-quality urbanization, a key challenge for urban agglomerations is the structural mismatch between economic linkages and rapidly expanding information interactions, which may constrain the performance of coupled systems under shocks. Taking the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei (BTH) urban agglomeration as a case, we construct an inter-city economic network from cross-city corporate investment ties and an information network from online…

Green credit policy and residents’ health: Quasi-natural experimental evidence from China
Background: Residents' health plays an important role in economic prosperity and national development. Methods: The research analyzes data from 262 prefecture-level cities in China spanning the period from 2010 to 2021. Utilizing the implementation of green credit policy in China as a quasi-natural experiment, the paper employs the time-varying Differences-in- Differences (DID) model to evaluate the influence of green credit policy on residents' …
Mechanism of cognitive processing for acupuncture action on generalized anxiety with naturally occurring consecutive partial sleep deprivation in early adulthood: A randomized controlled study and eva…
Introduction: Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is a common mental disorder that often begins in adolescence or early adulthood and is characterized by widespread and persistent anxiety. Partial sleep deprivation (PSD) is an important risk factor for GAD development and a common comorbidity. Adolescence is a period of rapid brain and nervous system development, and during this time, the occurrence of GAD can lead to neurocognitive deficits, such…
Biophysical and economic constraints on China’s natural climate solutions
Differences of medically unexplained symptoms among patients of different ages and sexes in the psychological clinic of a general hospital and the influencing factors of MUS: A cross-sectional study
The middle age group had greater MUS than the low age group. Before the age of 60 years, MUS increased with increasing age. Women had more severe MUS than men. Resilience, perceived social support, and depression had significant mediating effects on the effects of perceived stress on MUS. These findings suggest that clinicians should make more comprehensive and detailed evaluations and timely intervention for middle-aged and female patients. Impr…
Improved El Niño Southern Oscillation signals extracted by principal component analysis of tree-ring oxygen isotope records from the East Asian monsoon region of China
Research advances in ecosystem services in drylands under global environmental changes
The change of Beijing image in the foreign media: An analysis of coverage by mainstream English media
Adopting primarily content analysis, the paper collected, through sampling, a total of 1088 articles on Beijing from 18 English-based mainstream Western media between 1 January 2004 and 31 December 2014. The analysis covered article number, subject, style and report direction. Extending on such basis, in-depth semi-structured interviews were conducted with nine foreign correspondents stationed in Beijing, who come from the United States, the Unit…
