Unveiling multi-regional water footprints towards equity and sustainability
Competing for a Profit‐Shifting Firm
We investigate tax competition between two asymmetric countries bidding for an MNE subsidiary. Departing from standard zero‐sum models of profit reallocation between hosts, we introduce an “inward shifting” mechanism where profits flow from a high‐tax headquarters country to the host. This expands the host's tax base, strategically incentivizing the small country to adopt lax transfer pricing regulations. In equilibrium, the small country leverag…

Who is the “boss” in planning to have a baby? Fertility and household bargaining in China
Although fertility is typically regarded as a unitary family decision, a meaningful degree of disagreement in fertility willingness exists within households, especially for having two or more children. As China transitioned from a one-child to multiple-child policy, understanding how such disagreement affects fertility decisions is crucial. Using household data from the 2016 China Labor-force Dynamic Survey, we analyze fertility willingness in ma…

Vitality at Play
Past research holds that curiosity motivates creativity via two primary mechanisms—exploration and absorption. We propose that vitality is a more fundamental mechanism integrating them. According to the self‐determination theory, curiosity fuels vitality as it aligns with the natural inclination toward autonomy, competence, and relatedness. It is through enhanced vitality that curiosity further leads to exploration and absorption, which altogethe…

Curiosity Causes Creativity? Revealing the Reinforcement Circle between State Curiosity and Creativity
Curiosity has long been extolled as a seed for employee creativity. This causality is plausible when considering curiosity as a stable trait. However, curiosity can also oscillate as a transitory state, thus complicating the causal sequence between such state curiosity and creativity. To clarify the causal ordering and achieve a refined understanding of what role state curiosity plays in the creative process, we utilize a random‐intercept cross‐l…
