Do anthropometric characteristics and physical capacities of highly trained junior badminton players differ according to age and sex
Introduction In badminton, anthropometric characteristics and physical capacities are essential to meet playing demands across ages and sexes. The objective of this study was to investigate age- and sex-related differences in anthropometric characteristics and physical capacities among highly trained junior badminton players, focusing on differences between (i) under (U) 13, U15, and U17 age groups, and (ii) sexes within each age group. Materials…
Validation of the metabolic power model during three intermittent running-based exercises with emphasis on aerobic and anaerobic energy supply
In conclusion, the metabolic power model significantly under- or overestimates total energy expenditure and supplies with large effect sizes during intermittent running-based exercises. Future studies should optimize the model before it can be used on a daily basis for scientific and practical purposes
Navigating Power and Language
Transnational research settings create shared linguistic spaces between researchers and participants that are framed by global power relations, postcolonial constellations, and unequal access to resources. Against this backdrop, our article highlights methodological, ethical, and practical research issues in biographical research in multilingual settings, arguing for power‐sensitive perspectives in all stages of the research process. We discuss m…
Age, sex, endurance capacity, and chronic heart failure affect central and peripheral factors of oxygen uptake measured by non-invasive and continuous technologies
Introduction It is known that maximum oxygen uptake depends on age, sex, endurance capacity, and chronic heart failure. However, due to the required invasive or often applied non-continuous approaches, less is known on underlying central and peripheral factors. Thus, this study aimed to investigate the effects of age, sex, endurance capacity, and chronic heart failure on non-invasively and continuously measured central and peripheral factors of o…
Physical match demands of four Liqui-Moly Handball-Bundesliga teams from 2019-2022
IntroductionDue to the development in team handball, there is a need to optimize the physical capacities of team handball players for which knowledge of the physical match demands is essential. The aim of this study was to investigate the physical match demands of four LIQUI-MOLY Handball-Bundesliga (HBL) teams across three seasons with respect to the effects of season, team, match outcome, playing position, and halftime.MethodsA fixed installed …
Rehabilitation after a Complete Avulsion of the Proximal Rectus Femoris Muscle
While the endurance performance recovered after six months, asymmetries in neuromuscular control and structural muscle characteristics indicate the long-term presence of inter- and intra-limb compensation strategies
