A Late Pleistocene Eastern Mediterranean palaeoclimate record based on stable carbon isotopes (Δ13C) of archaeological charcoal
The Dawning of the Early Pre-Pottery Neolithic B in the Southern Levant
The study examines the patterns in architecture, burials, and contexts of Helwan and Jericho points throughout the three-phase EPPNB sequence of Motza in the site’s upper and lower sectors (gradients). The study aims to identify special, potentially ritual-related contexts and to evaluate the previously suggested idea that Jericho points were used in ceremonial hunting or proto-sacrifice of ungulates managed in the massive structures exposed in t…

Iconographic motifs from the 6th–5th millennia BC in the Levant and Mesopotamia
The obsidian assemblages from the Wadi Rabah occupations at Ein Zippori, Israel
A total of 266 obsidian items were found during four seasons of excavation at the Late Prehistoric site of Ein Zippori, Israel. Most of the assemblage was assigned to the Wadi Rabah culture. The obsidian artefacts originated in three Anatolian sources – Cappadocian Göllü Dağ and eastern Anatolian Bingöl A and B. Several colour and texture differences were noticed on some of the items from the different sources. The presence of items such as flake…

Design and performance of microlith implemented projectiles during the Middle and the Late Epipaleolithic of the Levant
Techno-morphological aspects of microlithic projectile implements
Throughout human history, the use of stone tools underwent a number of essential changes, one of which is the transition to microlithic tools. These appeared in Africa, Europe, and Southwestern Asia during the fi nal Pleistocene. By the Last Glacial Maximum, ca 20 ka BP, tool assemblages from prehistoric sites in these regions include a signifi cant microlithic component. The observed variability in morphological, metric and technological attribu…
