  • Benefit-Cost Analysis for Earthquake Early Warning in Washington State

Andrew Bouta, Alicia Y E Ahn et al.•ARTICLE•Natural Hazards Review•2020

This benefit-cost analysis (BCA) assesses the economic value of the implementation and operation of an earthquake early warning system (EEWS) over a 50-year period in the state of Washington. Based on a cost avoidance approach to assess benefits, this analysis compares the expected economic losses under earthquake scenarios with and without an operating EEWS. The FEMA’s earthquake economic loss software program, Hazards US Multi-Hazard (HAZUS-MH)…

  • Bronze Age glyptics of Eastern Jazmurian, Iran

• On the use of tokens and seals along the Kopet Dagh piedmont, Turkmenistan (ca 6000-3000 BCE)

  • Ilgynly-depe (Turkmenistan) and the 4th Millennium BC Metallurgy of Central Asia

  • Copper-melting crucibles from the surface of Altyn-Depe, Turkmenistan ( ca 2500-2000 BC)

Elisa Masioli, Domenico Artioli et al.•ARTICLE•Paléorient•2006•Citada por: 2

Ten crucible fragments collected at a single location on the surface of Altyn-Depe, most probably datable to the second half of the 3rd millennium BC, have been studied and analysed by the means of different techniques. The research provides new information on Middle Bronze Age (Namazga V) copper-based metallurgy at this important southern Turkmenian early urban site

  • Contemporary stone beadmaking in Khambhat, India

    J M Kenoyer, Massimo Vidale et al.•ARTICLE•World Archaeology•1991•Citada por: 65•Referencias: 11

Archaeologists studying early urban societies have long used the concept of craft specialization as an important indicator of social stratification, centralized control of production and indirectly, state level organization. However, new interpretive models need to be developed in order to understand socio‐economic developments in the prehistoric period. The stone beadmaking industry of Khambhat, India, provides a modern example of a traditional …

  • Th Millennium BC Lapis Lazuli Working at Mehrgarh, Pakistan

Maurizio Tosi, Massimo Vidale et al.•ARTICLE•Paléorient•1990•Citada por: 6•Referencias: 1

The paper describes the lapis lazuli industry recovered by the French archaeological mission at Mehrgarh on the surface of the site MR2, dating to the IVth millennium ВС. This find represents one of the earliest lapis lazuli bead making assemblages in South Asia, and it shows the involvement of the Kachi plain region in the production of luxury ornaments since comparatively ancient periods. We attempt to outline a basic reconstruction of the bead…
