Antygona w queerowym archiwum
Autorka eseju analizuje strategie konstruowania queerowych genealogii w książkach Kłirówy. Te, które złamały zasady autorstwa Sylwii Chutnik i Justyny Bilik oraz Lesbos Renaty Lis. W tekstach tych pisarki podejmują próbę odnalezienia duchowych i artystycznych poprzedniczek w historii literatury i sztuki, rekonstruując matrylinearne linie inspiracji między queerowymi twórczyniami. Poszukiwania te mają charakter zarówno archiwalny, jak i performaty…
Myśl roślinna” w poezji Jarosława Iwaszkiewicza
Celem artykułu jest krytyczna lektura liryki Jarosława Iwaszkiewicza w świetle tzw. zielonych studiów filologicznych. Materiał badawczy rozprawy stanowią wiersze pochodzące z różnych okresów twórczości poety – od wczesnych erotyków po utwory późne, szczególnie akcentujące tematy krytyki cywilizacyjnej, troski o środowisko i refleksji nad relacjami międzygatunkowymi. Inspiracje teoretyczne artykułu obejmują koncepcje ekokrytyczne opisywane w praca…

The Renewal of the Twenty Years in Theater: Revisions Based on The Danton Case by Stanisława Przybyszewska from 2008
The article results from the author’s participation in a project proposing interdisciplinary perspectives on contemporary revisions of the interwar period (1918–1939), including the interwar period in theater. The change in the way of interpreting the culture of this period was presented by the author using the examples of two 2008 productions of Stanisława Przybyszewska’s Danton’s Case, staged by important directors active after 1989: Jan Klata …
Przyczynek do recepcji twórczości Jarosława Iwaszkiewicza w Chorwacji

Głównym celem niniejszej książki jest zbadanie opisów dźwięku i czynności słuchania w tekstach prozatorskich z drugiej połowy XIX i początku XX wieku z uwzględnieniem problematyki ludzkiej podmiotowości. Analiza materiału literackiego wskazanego okresu pozwoliła mi wyróżnić trzy kręgi problemowe: doświadczanie dźwięków, ekspresję dźwiękową oraz uczestnictwo w świecie dźwięków. Podporządkowałam im strukturę problemową książki oraz dobór literatury…

Zapis „żałosnego, irlandzkiego dzieciństwa” w dylogii autobiograficznej Franka McCourta
Celem artykułu jest analiza i interpretacja wątku biedy we wspomnieniach Franka McCourta (Popiół i żar oraz I rzeczywiście). Korzystając z piśmiennictwa socjologicznego, autorstwa m.in. Ruth Lister i Zygmunta Baumana, studium przedstawia biografię bohatera utworu i jego matki naznaczoną zjawiskiem biedy dziedziczonej. Zwracając uwagę na ironię i intertekstualność w utworach McCourta, akcentuje twierdzenie o niewystarczalności języka do wyrażenia …
Silesia – Silentium: Silesian Women in Anna Dziewit-Meller’s Prose
This article aims to present the image of the Silesian women emerging from the novels by Anna Dziewit-Meller (Góra Tajget [Mount Taygetus], Od jednego Lucypera [All Because of One Lucifer]). The analysis and interpretation focused on the category of silence inscribed in the studied text allow the author to draw conclusions about the complicated family relationships of women, marked by the twentieth-century history of Upper Silesia. In the article…
How Does Passing Time Sound? Reymont’s Concept of a Relationship Between Time and Sound
The article discusses the relationship between the problems of time and sound in the works of Władysław Stanisław Reymont. Adopting the methodological apparatus of sound studies—in particular drawing upon the notion of the “audiosphere”—it examines excerpts from the novels Chłopi [Peasants], Wampir [Vampire], Ziemia obiecana [Promised Land], and several examples from selected short stories. The analysis demonstrates the way Reymont constructs the…

Między okiem i uchem. O Szpitalu żydowskim w Warszawie Marii Konopnickiej
Between the Eye and the Ear. About Szpital żydowski w Warszawie by Maria Konopnicka In my article, I interpret the work Szpital żydowski w Warszawie [Jewish Hospital in Warsaw] by Maria Konopnicka with emphasis on the way it depicts acoustic phenomena. For the purpose of the analysis, I juxtapose their function with the role assigned to visual references. To this end, I refer to the methodology of sound studies and visual studies. As it turns out…
How to Start Teaching Amharic Verbs
The Amharic verbal system—with its complexity in terms of form, meaning, and usage—poses a great challenge to both teacher and learner. Although the majority of Amharic textbooks give due consideration to the teaching of verbs, the activities that they offer only allow the student to get familiar with forms, in isolation from their meaning and context of use.The aim of this paper is to propose a way of introducing learners to the Amharic verbal s…

A Part-of-Speech Tagset for Morphosyntactic Tagging of Amharic
The aim of the article is to propose a tagset for the morposyntactic tagging of Amharic and to discuss those issues which may seem problematic. The tagset contains forty-seven tags grouped into twelve parts of speech. It is hoped that it provides a starting point for more exhaustive guidelines for prospective annotators
