Kwaku Adu, Kwaku Agyei Adu et al.•ARTICLE•Climate and Development•2026

In Ghana, Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) is essential to improving the production, resilience, and sustainability of high-value perennial crops like mangos. However, there are no empirical data regarding the variables influencing mango growers’ acceptance of CSA, especially in the climate-sensitive Yilo Krobo Municipality. Using survey data from 112 farmers and a convergent parallel mixed-methods design, this study used a Tobit regression model …

This study’s key contribution is using the triple hurdle model, combining logit and fractional logit regression, to provide a robust analysis of MSME resilience. The study assesses how the COVID-19 pandemic, socio-economic factors, and stimulus packages influenced MSME profitabili…

  • An economic valuation of the Bunso Eco-Park, Ghana

Open Access•Kwaku Adu, Eric Ankomah Damoah et al.•ARTICLE•Cogent Social Sciences•2024

This research aims at [1] identifying the factors that influence visits to Bunso Eco-Park; [2] estimating the recreational demand function for the park; and [3] estimating visitors’ net benefit (consumer surplus) for embarking on an eco-park recreational trip to Bunso using a sample size of 440. Estimates indicate that the annual person value of the site is Gh¢ 191.06 ($ 22.29) translating into an annual economic value of Gh¢ 9,170,880 (US$ 1,070…

Open Access•Emmanuel Orkoh, Evelina Nghishikomesho Hasholo et al.•ARTICLE•Development Southern Africa•2024

This paper evaluates the effects of the government's COVID-19 economic stimulus and relief package (emergency/one-off income grant of ND750) on household food security in Namibia during the period of the lockdown. The analysis reveals that a household that received the income grant ($42 equivalent) experienced about 11%−17% reduction in food insecurity compared to their non-recipient counterparts. We also found that the effect was relatively high…

    Open Access•Frank Gyimah Sackey•ARTICLE•Social Sciences & Humanities Open•2021

This paper examined the extent to which leaders’ characteristics and regime transitions impact on economic growth. A unique panel dataset, comprising 44 sub-Sahara African countries from 1970 to 2010, was used for the study. We used the differenced generalized methods of moments’ estimation to test our dynamic model for the dataset controlling for leader specific effects. We observed that democratic leaders were able to attract foreign direct inv…
