  • Population genetics of the California National Primate Research Center’s (CNPRC) captive Callicebus cupreus colony

  • A genetic comparison of two alleged subspecies of P hilippine cynomolgus macaques

Open Access•David Glenn Smith, Jillian Ng et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•2014•Cited by: 3•References: 39

Two subspecies of cynomolgus macaques ( Macaca fascicularis ) are alleged to co‐exist in the Philippines, M. f. philippensis in the north and M. f. fascicularis in the south. However, genetic differences between the cynomolgus macaques in the two regions have never been studied to document the propriety of their subspecies status. We genotyped samples of cynomolgus macaques from Batangas in southwestern Luzon and Zamboanga in southwestern Mindana…

  • Mitochondrial DNA of Protohistoric Remains of an Arikara Population from South Dakota

    Diana M Lawrence, Brian M Kemp et al.•ARTICLE•Human Biology•2010

Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) was extracted from skeletal remains excavated from three Arikara sites in South Dakota occupied between AD 1600 and 1832. The diagnostic markers of four mtDNA haplogroups to which most Native Americans belong (A, B, C, and D) were successfully identified in the extracts of 55 (87%) of the 63 samples studied. The frequencies of the four haplogroups were 42%, 29%, 22%, and 7%, respectively, and principal coordinates analys…

  • Hybridization and Stratification of Nuclear Genetic Variation in Macaca mulatta and M. fascicularis

    Open Access•Sree Kanthaswamy, Jessica Satkoski et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2008•Cited by: 5•References: 53

  • Mitochondrial DNA variation within and among regional populations of longtail macaques ( Macaca fascicularis ) in relation to other species of the fascicularis group of macaques

Open Access•David Glenn Smith, John Mcdonough et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Primatology•2007

An 835 base pair (bp) fragment of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) was sequenced to characterize genetic variation within and among 1,053 samples comprising five regional populations each of longtail macaques ( Macaca fascicularis ) and rhesus macaques ( Macaca mulatta ), and one sample each of Japanese ( M. fuscata ) and Taiwanese ( M. cyclopis ) macaques. The mtDNA haplotypes of longtail macaques clustered in two large highly structured clades (Fas1 a…

  • Identification of Country of Origin and Admixture Between Indian and Chinese Rhesus Macaques

Open Access•David Glenn Smith, Debra George et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2006•Cited by: 4•References: 23

  • Resolving an Anomolous Radiocarbon Determination on Mastodon Bone from Monte Verde, Chile

    Open Access•Debra George, John Southon et al.•ARTICLE•American Antiquity•2005•Cited by: 8•References: 19

Previous 14C determinations obtained on two segments of a single mastodon bone recovered from Monte Verde, Chile, were highly discordant, differing by more than 5,000 years. Because of the significance of this site in discussions concerning the earliest peopling of the Western Hemisphere, additional 14C and new δ13C values have been obtained on organic fractions isolated from both segments. The constituent amino acid profiles indicate that both b…
