Remembering Snofru: Zu einer Trouvaille aus dem Leipziger Ägyptischen Museum–Georg Steindorff. Gedanken zur Funktion und Wiederverwendung von Steingefäßen mit dem Namen Snofrus im Alten Reich

A New Approach to Dating the League of the Iroquois
When did the League of the Five Nations Iroquois originate? This study presents a new approach to answering this age-old question. Compositional data were collected on ceramics (pottery and smoking pipes) from Seneca and Mohawk sites in an attempt to identify and reconstruct exchange and interaction patterns between these two widely separated League members. X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and particle-induced X-ray emission (PIXE) spectrometry were emp…
Trade and Exchange among the Mohawk-Iroquois: A Trace Element Analysis of Ceramic Smoking Pipes
This study reports the results of a trace element analysis of Mohawk-Iroquois ceramics. The objective of the research was an attempt to identify trade ceramics, specifically ceramic smoking pipes, in Mohawk assemblages. Over 400 ceramic artifacts were analyzed using an X-ray fluorescence technique to determine their trace element compositions. Control samples of pottery were utilized to demonstrate differences in the elemental composition of regi…
