Dogs in Funerary Practices of Bronze Age Populations of the Ural-Kazakhstan Steppes
This article presents the results of a study of grave goods and the composition of sacrificial animals in burials of the Sintashta culture in the Ural-Kazakhstan steppes. Two burial samples (one including dogs and the other without dogs) were examined in order to test the hypothesis that individuals interred with dogs held a high social status. An Early Iron Age Camp of Reindeer Hunters in the Bolshezemelskaya Tundra, Nenets Autonomous Okrug
This study outlines the fi ndings of excavations at More-Yu II—a site in the northern Bolshezemelskaya tundra. The habitation layer with numerous charcoal lenses was discovered inside the layer of buried soil overlain by eolian sand. Most fi nds are ceramics and animal bones. Remains of Brown Bear (Ursus Arctos L.) From the Kaninskaya Cave Sanctuary in the Northern Urals
Fossil remains of brown bear from Kaninskaya cave in the northern Ural are described.
