Cultural Heritage-Wise Analysis Based on Multilateral Comparanda Attesting to The Uniqueness of Castrum Zerzevan and its Mithraeum
The Zerzevan Fortress on the eastern borders of the Roman Empire reflects the prototype of the headquarters established by the Romans in Upper Mesopotamia. The fortress is one of the rare examples that has survived to the present day, partially preserving its plan scheme. It is also a quasi-civilian settlement where rituals of different belief systems and Roman military planning elements can be seen together. Dating back to the 1st-6th centuries …
Lejyoner Kalesi̇'nde Sanat
A New Hellenistic Contribution List from Tymnos in Karia. The Kaletepe Inscription
This article introduces a new fragmentary inscription discovered on the hillside during the archaeological survey at Kaletepe, situated northeast of Bozburun, in 2022. ВIII в. до н.э. оно было под управлением Камира. На протяжении нескольких столетий территория поселен…
Yerel ve Devşirme? İki Kimlik
Çalışmanın amacı, Karyalı Bozburun Yarımadası’nın kuzey ve güneyinde (Bybassos ve Phoinix) karşımıza çıkan; iki farklı isim gibi görünmekle birlikte benzer işleve sahip Hemithea ve Eileithyia’nın bağlantısını, tanrıçalarla doğrudan ilişkili olan yazıt külliyatı (adak yazıtları), antik metinler, mitsel kurgular ve kısmen tarihsel coğrafyaya dayalı etimolojik olasılıklar ışığında sorgulamaktadır. Özellikle antik Akdeniz’de farklı lakaplar alan yery…
On Phoinix (Φοίνιξ) and Its Distinguishing Marks
The oldest known inhabitants of Taşlıca (Bozburun Peninsula, in Southwestern Turkey), recorded as Phoinix in the inscriptions, were the Tloioi people. In the light of the ancient Greek corpus reported especially from the site of Fenaket (namely Rumevlek, forming the core of the dwelling zone) and the Classical wall ruins at the Acropolis, it is understood that the village has been systematically occupied since the 5th century BC. The settlement, …
