  • From Centrality to Sustainability: How Connected Boards Shape Waste Management Outcomes

Open Access•Irfan Haider Shakri, Anh Tuan Nguyen et al.•ARTICLE•Business Strategy and the…•2026

The escalating climate crisis has elevated waste management from an operational concern to a critical issue of corporate governance. However, the role of board connectedness in shaping firms' waste practices remains largely unexplored. Drawing on resource dependency and social capital theories, this study examines how board network centrality influences waste management practices. Employing pooled OLS on 4948 firm‐year observations from US‐listed…

  • Export Controls as Innovation Marketing? Sociotechnical Imaginaries in the Ringfencing of Quantum Technologies

Open Access•Anh Nguyen, Anh Tuan Nguyen•ARTICLE•Law Technology and Humans•2025

Why are a host of states, such as the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France and the Netherlands, imposing export controls on quantum computers with technical specifications (e.g. 2000 qubits) that are not yet realisable? No full-fledged ‘useful’ quantum technology (QT) exists yet; instead, the regulatory object of export controls is the network of technological artefacts (equipment, prototype, proof-of-concepts), people and labs (the …

  • Act of hope: A story of climate change and water puppetry performance along the Red River, Vietnam

  • Do Weak or Strong Acids Remove Carbonate Contamination From Ancient Tooth Enamel More Effectively? The Effect of Acid Pretreatment on Radiocarbon and Δ 13 C Analyses

Open Access•Rachel Wood, Andre Barros Curado Fleury et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•2021•Cited by: 2•References: 52

In hot environments, collagen, which is normally targeted when radiocarbon ( 14 C) dating bone, rapidly degrades. With little other skeletal material suitable for 14 C dating, it can be impossible to obtain dates directly on skeletal materials. A small amount of carbonate occurs in hydroxyapatite, the mineral phase of bone and tooth enamel, and has been used as an alternative to collagen. Unfortunately, the mineral phase is often heavily contamin…

  • HCV infection status and care seeking among people living with HIV who use drugs in Vietnam

Li Li, Chunqing Lin et al.•ARTICLE•AIDS Care•2020

HCV co-infection is widespread among people living with HIV who use drugs (PLHWUD). However, HCV testing was inconsistently implemented among PLHWUD. The low infection awareness and mental health challenges together impede PLHWUD’s treatment-seeking. The study used baseline data of a randomized controlled trial conducted in Vietnam. HCV infection status was collected through self-report and medical record review. A linear mixed-effects regression…

    Open Access•Alejandra Ortiz, Shara E Bailey et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•2019•Cited by: 4•References: 94

This study suggests that the protoconule and the shape of the mesial fovea in upper molars are useful features for the taxonomic identification of isolated hominid teeth. By identifying these new features, our results can contribute to the better understanding of hominoid evolutionary history and biogeography during the Asian Pleistocene. However, we emphasize that the reported features should be used in combination with other diagnostic variable…

  • The prehistoric peopling of Southeast Asia

Open Access•Hugh McColl, Fernando Racimo et al.•ARTICLE•Science•2018

Ancient migrations in Southeast Asia The past movements and peopling of Southeast Asia have been poorly represented in ancient DNA studies (see the Perspective by Bellwood). Lipson et al. generated sequences from people inhabiting Southeast Asia from about 1700 to 4100 years ago. Screening of more than a hundred individuals from five sites yielded ancient DNA from 18 individuals. Comparisons with present-day populations suggest two waves of mixin…

  • A Casino goes smoke free: A longitudinal study of secondhand and thirdhand smoke pollution and exposure

    Georg E Matt, Penelope J E Quintana et al.•ARTICLE•Tobacco Control•2018

Long-term smoking in a casino creates deep THS reservoirs that persist for months after a smoking ban. A complete smoking ban immediately improves air quality and significantly reduces exposure to SHS and THS. However, THS reservoirs contribute to continued low-level exposure to toxicants. To accelerate the effect of smoking bans, remediation efforts should address specific THS reservoirs, which may require intensive cleaning as well as replaceme…
