Towards carbon neutrality
Addressing climate change requires both global cooperation and local action. Mountainous rural areas, with their significant carbon sink potential, play a crucial yet under-explored role in achieving carbon neutrality. However, it is not clear how far these villages are from carbon neutrality. This study proposes a novel carbon neutrality assessment framework specifically designed for mountainous villages, integrating carbon emission reduction, s…
Interactive and joint associations of prenatal ozone and PM2.5 exposure with fetal growth restriction
Despite extensive population-based evidence linking air pollution with adverse birth outcomes, the potential interactive effects of ambient ozone (O3) and fine particulate matter (PM2.5) on low birth weight (LBW) and small for gestational age (SGA) remain largely unstudied. We conducted a national retrospective cohort study using approximately 4.07 million birth records being registered in 749 hospitals across 31 provinces of Iran from 2013 to 20…
Prenatal greenness exposure and the decreased risk of low birthweight and small for gestational age
This study provided national evidence for greater health benefits of greenness in alleviating LBW and SGA risks among pregnant women being exposed to higher PM 2.5 and O 3 pollution levels. Reduced PM 2.5 and O 3 may partially mediate the association of greenspace exposure with fetal growth
Mortality Risk from Chronic Ischemic Heart Disease Associated with Short-Term Co-Exposure to Summer Heatwave and Ozone
When Too Many Become Too Much
Given the dearth of research on the psychological mechanisms underlying social exclusion behaviour in crowded environments, the present study delves into the psychological implications of social crowding, examining its consequential effects on social exclusion behaviour. Utilising a stigmatisation induction Cyberball paradigm, two experiments were conducted to explore how social crowding affects exclusionary actions and the moderating role of gro…
Environmental regulation and entrepreneurial activity
Emergency Department Visits in Children Associated with Exposure to Ambient PM1 within Several Hours
Exposures to ambient PM 1 and PM 2.5 within several hours were related to increased PEDVs. A high PM 1 /PM 2.5 ratio may contribute an additional risk independent from the short-term impacts of PM 2.5 . These findings highlighted the significance of reducing PM 1 in minimizing health risks due to PM 2.5 exposure in children
